Any other Southern California outdoor growers having to prepare for Hillarys' arrival Sunday? My girls are in 30 gallon bags and I can't budge them so moving them indoors is a no go. Has anyone ever tried a cellophane wrap around the plant to keep the branches from being blown apart?

Whichever way it goes it aint gonna be good, unless you want a new old lake! Be ready to do some surgery on a limb here and there, I get some damages every year, the girls are really tough and pull it back together fast, long as they are not completely busted apart. Good luck!
-
Thanks for the suggestions friends. I kinda feel like this storm is being a little over hyped in the media but being cautious is seldom a bad thing. The plants are currently in my screen house and if the winds get nasty I may have to take the mosquito netting off the PVC framing.

Where I am, some people wrap their ornamental bushes in burlap for the winter so the snow doesn't trash them. Maybe lots of stakes around the perimeter to support them? Consider laying them over on their side in a controlled manner before the wind does it for you and breaks them. Best of luck and stay safe.Don't worry, be happy, grow sticky buds.

..... and they appeared to be going really well. This is why I have had enough of growing these wonderful plants outdoors. Shit happens you cannot do anything about and the last 4 years the weather has been adverse to successful grows.
Next it will be global spidermite or some other plagues, hold on, climate change is here!

Hello my friends,
was trying to grow a small plant outdoors, but here in socal its tough because its to damm hot. Sleepy joe is not to sleepy she just keeps growing. I have topped every branch and even lollipoped some of the lower branches. She's in a 5 gal. Fabric pot an 5 feet tall, and with at least another month to go I'm stressing about root issues. With this heat she's drinking 1 gallon a day. Wish me luck!4 Photos

Hello johnb1963 I've done nearly the same with all of mine except for the Freak Show strain. Same here hot hot and smoky on some days. It's feeling alittle like fall here in so. oregon in the mornings. Weather is slightly cooling only in the low 90's now. The work you've done will in my opinion greatly help the out come an health of the plant. I think she looks very good for such a small pot even better than mine in the 15gal plastic. I'm going to buy some 5gal fabric all i got is 3gal fabric. You've given great care and it shows. Did you get much rain an wind? Sure looks good if you did. Having cement is a furnice on hot days, you may want to set her in a shallow box with soil so that it doesn't reflect heat on bottom. My pots sit on my dead lawn LOL
-
Hello gal, I appreciate the kind words. It's been 90 to 100 degrees for the month. It did cool down last weekend as the storm rolled through. I moved the girls under my covered patio to keep them out of the rain. Going to to be 90 again next week. I don't keep them on the concrete. They sit on a rod iron stand which is mostly all open on the bottom, so they get plenty of air underneath. You can see it on the first pic. I'll post again as as progress.

The sun is out and it's a gorgeous day. Gave the girls a once over in the wake of Hillary and zero damage. Never had winds
over 18mph in my neck of the woods. Kinda disappointed in this years outdoor grow. Plants are really healthy but they just
didn't reach the typical size of previous grows. Last year the Freaks hit well over 8 feet and this year it's more like 4. I'm also
experiencing a much earlier flower. One of my 3 GSC is already in full bud now. My Purple Punch is the only plant that seems
on schedule. All I can figure is that all the May gray and June gloom we had here in So Cal disrupted the normal pattern. The
smaller sized plants combined with having my OG Kush turn out to be a him will definitely impact my yield this season. The
screen house is doing its job nicely and I haven't found a single insect or bird poo on them. While the netting was up I decided
to give them all a feeding of banana/kelp/molasses tea. They're looking a bit shaggy so later today I plan giving some haircuts.

Well we've had a few days of sun. Plants are doing ok. Starting to yellow at the bottom pretty quick for this stage of flower. Might need to bump the N on the next feed. Two gallons each every other day feeding every other watering when I actually have too. Seems like it rains every day or two with inches of rain. Still no wpm. 🤞5 Photos

Looking good! Both your's and Ckbrew 's plants are looking far more vigorous than mine.
My plants never really recovered from my time away on vacation. Also believe this is the time of year where small containers become problematic. Still keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for at least moderate production. Have decided to feed them 1/2 grow/1/2 flower nutes for the next few weeks. Only positive news is my slow poke plant has finally decided to flower, maybe it will surprise me.

Geeze GreenState what a sheety grow season already cold in the a.m. Yes mine are getting slowed also do to extreme heat an windy. I think frankly now that i OVER watered all of them in the last month. Mine look like crap compared to Bowhunterwoody plants. I too picked up from a friend some Mendo ferts. I was given a baggie of 20-20-20 read all the goodies on the 40# sack it's organic crap. He said 1 teaspoon per gallon of water yes it's dry mix carmel colored. I'm gonna give it a go tomorrow morning. I've always been to dang cautious feeding high amounts of NPK but what the heck mine are loosing leaf to yellowing daily.

The outdoor grow is progressing. Flowers appeared a week or two ago. The way they are now, if they were tent plants I would want them to go 6 or 7 more weeks. By that time it will be way to cold for plants outside, and it will be very wet every night. Like that is any different this year. I am contemplating putting the manifolded plant back inside since the other plants are finished. Idk if I really want to do that. I would be bringing the bugs inside the area that I try and keep as sterile as possible.
And then there are the outdoor solos. Not much left of these. Total root lock. This season is winding down. No motivation to save them...
Don't worry, be happy, grow sticky buds.

Gawwwd i feel ya with the motivation crap. Don't feel bad about the solos. My outdoor ones are not as great growing like in past years, I guess i'm glad now that i got abit carried away as many as i grew cause they are so far wayyyy under performing. I'm gonna hit them with 20-20-20 NPK water solulable organic stuff a fellow grower gave me a baggie of. Maybe it will kick start them or maybe kill them LOL just kidding.

I'm training all three plants onto the net now. An working on recovering from deficiencies. Top dressing with slow drippers are a non starter, maybe sprayers solve that problem. I've compared the buds to typical and I guess about 4+ weeks into bud. Expect 10 weeks so I'm running out of summer. Having a heat tolerant strain during the heat wave was nice but now I'll h have to have pot warmers before this grow is over.
Drying: Strawberry Cough photo started indoors Apr 27. Moved outdoors June 25. Harvested October 8.
Past grows: Speakeasy Bourbon Berry Auto F1 (Ogreberry x Whiskey Zulu),
Whiskey Zulu, Trizzlers

Mine are flowering very slowly also. I gotta go take some pictures but they are nothing to really brag about this year so far. It's still to warm for us outdoors or greenhouse. I got some strains supposed to be 70-75day flowering but they ain't gonna be done mid September more like the end the way there growing. Ugghh this season i just am not feeling it like years past. But on the bright side no bug/worm issues at all YET.
-
SoOrbudgal I'm beginning to miss the heat. I think hot and humid beats cold and humid. I'm going to try wrapping a grow mat around around each bag and wrapping insulation around that. Mars Hydro describes doing that so I guess it's not too whacky an idea. Soil temps already dipping below 65F at night so I don't think it's too soon.
It's my first outdoor grow so I don't know what from what. While they look "okay" I don't have any certaintude that I'll get to smoke anything from these plants yet. Ever hopeful though.
-
I will take heat over snow and windy freezing rain anyday 90Gizmo. We or just me tend to whine about it as the days slowly grow shorter and knowing 6 months of cold is coming. But i'm in the PNW closer to Cali boarder than Canada so those folks get the shit award this year. Crappy cold winter that barely ended and fires that go on till winter comes again. My body sure feels better in the warmth.

Welp a couple weeks have passed since my last photo show. I did major yellow leaf removeal prior to pics. First 2 are my pride an joy random bag seed from way back don't know what they are but they are my best. A shot of all the plants on my dead lawn and I have a shorty about 3 1/2 ft and couple of bud shots. Going on 3rd week of flower. Gave them a 20-20-20 shot of nutes because they are mostly unhappy an i thought they need a boost we'll see if it did any worse harm. They just are struggling from dry windy hot weather. I could of over watered them which caused root issues but they have dozens of holes drilled in there pots. It is what it is i'll post again with pics in another 2wks. It's a long slow process outdoors this year it's wearing on me kinda loosing my mojo feels like. If i find the freak show pic i'll post it here guess i missed it in the download. I've definitely had better grow years but i'll take what i can get. Indoor photoperiods coming in the winter.6 PhotosSmoke Ganja create Peace Respect Nature don't trash the Planet

Thanks for the compliments. In person they are not so nice looking it's something and i can't fix it. We had a surprise lightning and rain storm after midnight last night. I shook them off took off several more yellow dieing leaves from each. I'm not reusing my reused soil next outdoor grow it's going into my veggie beds. And i'm gonna have less plants cause i'm going to do indoor after outdoor is harvested and dryed/cured in the jars.

Here's Freak Show. It's lost over 1/2 it's leaf she's about 2wks or so into flower. I'd say 4 out of 7 plants have root issues from stress/heat. I never had this problem as bad when i lived 20mi outside of town. But I got shaded most the time too had to keep moving the pots which i hated to do. I wish you could zoom in on the stalk it's real purple as are the branches. I may of watered to much on all of them and did'nt allow them to dry? Well the sick one's droop abit gawwwd i hope i'm not heading down the rotton root hwy1 PhotoSmoke Ganja create Peace Respect Nature don't trash the Planet

If you watered them and got a lot of runoff your main nitrate washed out the bottom. There are other forms of compound nitrogen available to the roots that don't wash out easily in water but these are in small and limited supply..I'd say you definitely have an N deficiency if you watered getting runoff in any quantity.

I sure am pulling for you and the rest of the outdoor growers in the East. Terrible storms and Canada man that's just burning up the wilderness it's so sad. We're battling awful smokey days here and dry. We had lightning strikes again with more small fires now joining eachother. Horrible and school kids here in my area don't have air conditioning ( we never did either ) and they can't play outdoors. All around smells like campfires. We are praying for rain

Hello my friends,
had a brief relief from the heat last week but next four days to be in the upper 90's. Getting yellowing on the lower water leaves. Not exactly sure why. I fed them today, ff trio, tested the runoff, ph 6.3 ppm 1001. Hopefully it's just normal old age, lol.
any thoughts?5 Photos

Plants are doing ok. Rather pale green, gave them a boost of N. I've finally found a steady stream of sunlight for them..half the day in my driveway, then haul them to the back till dark. Not ideal but its working.4 PhotosShappel S3000 3.5x6x6' ice hut
