Well said, Weasel: it's pretty clear on this forum who has a great wealth of knowledge and experience, just like it's clear to me who I can't take seriously...

I get the impression that each forum sets a tone, and each one is either going to attract or repulse potential members.

I got repulsed by the meanness that was part of the culture on the first cannabis forum I joined (first forum ever!), and I left. I got really attracted to this forum by the quality of information and the friendliness. I think trolls wouldn't stay here: they wouldn't get the feedback/support they'd be looking for. And I really appreciate the fact that there is no advertising. Nebula totally set the tone for this forum with GWE, and it attracts the right people. Interestingly enough, there were some trolls who hated GWE on my first forum.... nuff said right there....

I agree...just did mine yesterday (thanks for info from kingfish). And since Nebula put my 1st journal into a PDF I was happy to attach that link too. Handy tool the signature!

There will always be some need for censorship in some form. It's the nature of the internet that random weirdness and trolls will wander in and issues will arrive.
When the membership list grows to half a million people then unfortunately there is a certain amount of police work that needs to be done every day. It would take a very wise and damn near saintly management to make it all work perfectly all the time.
But you're totally right, Nebula and Sirius set the tone and do the groundwork, good members follow, and we build from there.

Indeed, so useful especially when new members come aboard and it gets hard for me to remember who's doing what! 💚 Like a miniature bio! 🌼

i pretty much second everything tika, rockman, insomniaczz, alltat, and green said. i think/hope everyone is well aware of my love for this forum at this point. i sure hope its getting bigger doesn't mess up the very thing that makes it so great. that would suck so much.

It's up to us to keep it the way we want it. No bullies/trolls allowed. I think it's always going to be the active folks on this forum who set the tone.

An excellent and thoughtful discussion. At some point more structure in this forum may be needed, which I am not opposed to should it be deemed necessary by Nebs- whom I assume we all trust in this matter. Thanks Tika for the post and Weasel for the thoughtful insight.

Belated reply....
Tika- totally, and I felt no criticism at all. Was just critiquing your critique 'cause I think maybe you misunderstand the original point I was making about the beauty of the reps system as I know it. Maybe it's one of those conversations where two people are coming from the same place saying the same thing but just don't realize it.
But for me to try to explain further would probably just confuse the issue and dig a hole or make it seem like I have a lot invested in the issue, which I don't at all. Best to investigate that system yourself if you're curious.
I've got no interest in 'changing the forum' or anything like that. Which was pretty much the whole point to begin with.
I was just pointing out that, out of all the various forms of titles and prestige and whatnot that come with a forum, rep points are the one I'm familiar with that come with the least politics, and actually with no crowd politics at all, which is super refreshing. I've gotten all the fancy titles and awards and stuff before. It's all fine I guess, sort of, but I never asked for that stuff and just like to wander around growing, posting, and doing what I do the same as everyone else, and would rather not be in a popularity contest. Which is why when I get reps from a fellow member it often feels more meaningful than someone 'liking' some bunch of blather I wrote, or voting my plant as the best one because they know me better than the other guy or whatever. That was my plant in the contest, not me...
There will always be some sort of balancing act between having a forum be a constant pissing match, and having a way to give fun incentives and respect to members. Not sure where that line is but that's why my input is only worth 2c the same as everyone else's, thank god ;)

Maybe that could be one of the titles that members earn. 'Needs to get out of the house more'. Might slow us down posting a little if we knew that title was going to get bestowed on us. Could be a good thing. Dogs would get fed, families would stay together, etc.
