Special Titles and rep points subscriptions

i enjoyed the idea of subscription info - thought maybe useful for someone growing as I do since I don't feel useful for super hydro folk or outdoor growers outside of cheering and complimenting.

However the concept of "rep points" and much backdoor activity is -by lack of it- why many people have come to this forum in particular -myself included.. People earn their credit by the viability of their recommendations within the exchanges that get put into action. I don' think the like button should have anything to do with anything..if someone hits a like on my comment i am flattered and wonder who. Most people don't use the like button. Instead we agree to agree or disagree and as far as i can see -it is all right out there in front...up close and personal or no comment.

Still speaking for myself: in joining this forum I have found a source of abundant information from MANY people including questions from Newbies, useful back and forth commentary & good times and on occasion get my little feelings hurt (and get over it ). I like these people, respect their efforts and histories, the time they put into helping others is remarkable. And if someone is full of it-most know it-and if highly inappropriate ADMIN will deal with it.
We are here because we have a common passionate passion and are mature enough to sustain it without a personality contest in the background.

Thanks for the ear
Happy New Year to everyone!!

I really think we need a way to tell how long someone has posted and knows what they are talking about. I would trust someones opinion if I knew they had done what they are asking me to do.
The first group of us all have bars but soon everyone will have them.

So I like and you have to do percentages with the counts

Seedlings
Vegetative state
Flower
Bud
Harvested
Cured (mellow ( Stinky LOL

Words you can play with them

Happy New Year for this forum it's good to have this and we don't want to taint the love you feel here in any way!

Tika, I posted that blather on the other thread about rep points. You might be misunderstanding the concept that I was trying to explain. Or maybe not, but rep points as I know it was/is one of the coolest, yet most understated things about the forum (420). I can't see them changing a forum in any way. If 420 removed the rep points system it wouldn't change a single thing about the way the forum operates or anything whatsoever that people do or say. It's just kind of a little extra system on the side where people give each other respect privately.
But -on second thought, I guess if titles were attached to the rep points, that would be different. So maybe that's what you mean- and where the system I was describing would wander into different territory. There are no titles or any public glory attached to rep points on 420. No politics, and no prizes, nothing. It's just a system of peer to peer respect, plain and simple. There are other systems that are public- likes, thanks, and various monthly and yearly contests with titles and abundant prizes, most voted in by members, some chosen by staff, and you can friend people as well
Of course we all want respect and to be liked, but personally I'm pretty wary of that side of forums which kind of sets things up to be a popularity/pissing contest and makes some members 'importanter' than others. In the end though none of it matters much- it's just important to do the balancing act of keeping it fun, light, and honest. I don't care, or ever notice, how many likes a person has, I just read their posts to get to know them, and like you said- that's where the action is.

what made you venture out to this forum....it sounds different than 420 which you seem to like......glad your here tho

It is true that some posters on this forum have deservedly earned great respect and we like to acknowledge that with compliments. I don't see any reason for 'Labels' to be attached to users. The date they joined and number of posts simply tells others that they have been here for quite a long time, or the opposite, a new member. So what? Those who come regularly, even if just to read without making many new posts, know who the trusted members are. Know who to trust to give valid solid advice. As new members start to pick up, I see more and more good advice. If I give advice that a well respected long time member may think is off, I am not offended to be told so, because it is done with respect and is never mean spirited.

Not sure if all I've said is relevant to topic, but just felt like giving my 2 cents.

Green75 it's not that different than 420 actually- just much much tinier, and a bit of a different format, which I haven't figured out yet. Things in common- no negativity, respectful nice people, and no trolls or silly teenagers.
420 is a good place. I'm still a member and have many dear friends there.

Half of it's just that I stumbled on this forum and it seems so nice and little and cute! Kidding, sort of. This seems like a great place. And the 'management' is not only cool, but actually talks to us. It would be a nice place to make a cozy little home, help people out, get help and have fun.

The other half is some fundamental disagreements I feel about how 420 operates, because they do a lot of censorship of members' content, based largely on what they think may be good/bad for business from their sponsors, so any posts and conversations that don't fit get censored and deleted, PM's are spied upon, and sometimes the brave new world mentality really really bothers me. If they saw this post they might ban me or strip away some of my fancy titles, lol. I know there has to be some oversight to keep negativity, trolls, bullshit, and spam away, but that's not the part that bothers me.
There's a lot I could say about it. I don't really want to get into it publicly because it really is a great forum, with good people like here, and the mods are very sweet people too. Just a personal phobia I have against a system of censorship and secret police overseeing my posts I guess. Looking for a change.
I'll have to decide whether I have room in my life for two forums.

Great points you made Tika, as well as Insomiaczzz. Not feeling wordy right now....just want to reaffirm that we quickly can see now who is speaking from experience or well researched knowledge. This forum and the super people on it have been a great place for sharing, and you can get as much out of it as you care to invest your time and yourself! 💚

Thanks Weasel
The whole topic has generated thought which I think is great beginning with Nebulas first post on for lack of a better term -status- in our processes in growing and on the forum. Agree- ultimately it doesn't matter. Hierarchy is a natural consequence of the gathering of minds.
Please understand I was not being critical but critiquing the concept.

Censorship..really..wow...there is not of that here...no need for it tho....we all cool....seems you are as well...tops to ya bro..

If someone in here would give a blatantly bad answer to a question, I think there would be enough people on here to speak up.

One more point...I think the practice of putting relevant info in one's signature is extremely useful for everyone to quickly see where you're coming from. Hope all will utilize this newly popular option! 😊
