    You got to have pics.

Just think Playboy. No pics, no sales. Barber shops the world over go broke.

    Length is important!

Photos are in the next post. This post was getting lengthy. I do so hate a lengthy post, don't you?

Must have been half decent. You imagined you posted photos.

    The nutshell version.
An embarrassingly relative small amount of ice water kief from 80ish grams of an entire plant soaking in however much alcohol is in that green jar. It was eventually divided into another container the same size to up the amount of ETOH to better fill the funnel. Both containers were put in the freezer to get down to my personal best 0° for about an hour. That low is not going to do me any favors.
Both jars got poured into the funnel and sucked through using a vacuum pump I have for another vacuuming purpose.
The residual dried into fluffy nothingness. Couldn't get it to stick together. The filters were not made in the same country as the funnel, so the fit is not quite right. There was a little leakage. The white spot on the filter was where the filter didn't quite fit, but I had the forethought to double-up and caught nigh on what all leaked.
The resulting tar smells great and tastes like boo-boo. Probably the wax I couldn't freeze out is the taste. But the high is super interesting. I've never full on 'shroomed or dropped acid but I imagine the high from my washed kief is like being on a hallucinogen without the hallucinations.
I bloody well hate everything about making IW hash to the point of not smoking what I make. But this kief washing is something to consider if I want to full pull away from my current method of resin making.

Use a lab heat mat. You can get them that even swirls the solution. I have no idea what they are called but they are brilliant. Precise temp control, not ghetto cheap though.

Got curious about this machine. I'll never own one but it got me thinking about oil distillation.
This machine gets up to 107°F which is fine for ethanol extraction but not enough for short path or fractional distillation which I believe is in the 400°+ range, gathered from a video, or two.
The idea of capturing the vapor from what is nothing more than an oversize lid is brilliant in its ghettoness. I mean, it doesn't even have a chiller! And you don't need to run a gallon at a time.
Who is the person with the big brain, shop, and capital to build me one of these machines with variable temperature up to, say, 500°?

Seems a few more folk are reading this. So, I'll bring it up again.
What are thoughts about making an alcohol tincture/extract with kief instead of whole plant? Basically, melting trichomes in alcohol instead of a whole plant wash.
And further thoughts about dewaxing if not just filtering the tincture and evaporating the alcohol? Basically, making (dewaxed) RSO with kief.

    Yes, that’s correct on both.
Apparently the freeze dryers are good for drying hash before pressing into temple balls, but I ain’t that fancy

    Mostly.
The ubiquitous household refrigerator/freezer combo is not good for freezing weed or anything plant. Flash freezing does not burst plant cells and damage trichomes like your Frigidaire. That's how you get the live resins, rosins, and other 'live' concentrates.
There's also freeze drying. But that's just speeded up drying, no curing.

On another reading of Frenchys instruction it would appear he does not recommend freezing fresh material as it will cause the water to expand, damaging the resin heads and adding chlorophyll to the process.
So fresh yes , fresh frozen not so much. Fully dried and cured 3 months is most common
