    Flowering Week 2 Day 1: 25 March 2022

Not a lot to report - but I will post a few updated photo's. The girls are looking good and are just starting to get dressed up for the show; I figure by next week they should have their bunny tails on. I have been cleaning up the undergrowth and removing growth tips that were never going to make it to the top of the canopy. The biggest of the three is Hazel standing at about 44cm (just over 17 inches) tall. Little Suzie is - well, Little Suzie; the force is small with this one. I'll step out of the spotlight and hand the floor over to my three girls...

These girls are gonna be a couple of monsters, bravo! Maybe you've said in an earlier post but what kind of nutes are you using?

NickyChicks I use the General Hydroponics Flora Trio as they have a hard water option for their micro mix. Don’t think I have mentioned nutrients in this journal. Sorry about that.

Looking healthy as usual GMH. grand master hydro.

Start of the Week! No pics, no 'direct' news on the grow, but instead I would like to take a moment to ... okay, moments over. LOL
No Really, my sincere thanks and appreciation goes out to GWE member GuitboxTom . His comments and supplied links have changed my thinking with regard to the last 48-72 hours prior to harvest. I am going to repost the link he posted with a VERY good interview by Dr. Bugbee from USU that covers several topics related to cannabis horticulture. Living only a few miles away from the Utah border it had always been my understanding that cannabis is a BIG NO NO in Utah... looks like maybe not so much as USU is less than 3 hours away. I do know the consequences of cannabis possession for joe public without a PhD is not quite as rosey as the video may lead you to believe. That aside, GuitboxTom THANK YOU for the pharming phacts! Once again proof that the GWE community is second to none!
The facts haven't changed... just my understanding of them

Thank YOU BU2B. Loving to learn! Good on you. It occurred to me that people don’t have the time to get into actual grow science as opposed to bro science So those of us who can, should share as much true science as we can. If I was not anchored here on the East coast, I’d love to take classes from Bugbee at USU.

Great video, every grower should watch it.
I know those two separately, but have never seen that interview, really informative.
        Thank you for posting it.
I will be modifying my harvesting and drying accordingly, and other things too probably. I Will be re-watching that for sure.

Say no to darkness I guess 😁

At last the day has come. I wanted to tell my girl it's time to flower so I switched to 12/12 this morning. She is about 15" now and I'd like to see at least 30" when the stretch is done. Only one left to tell the tale now and she is a healthy Critical Mass 50/50 Sat/Ind. Hoping for 5 oz.

            Flowering Week 3 Day 1: 1 April 2022

Things are progressing on schedule and the three girls are doing fine. I’ve cleaned out the undergrowth and removed smaller branches that would never make it to the top of the canopy or those that were smaller that would block bud development. The girls have also had their 3 week defoliation. This generally happens later into week 3 but the girls were bushy enough that nows the time.

Enough blabber here are the stars of the show; before and after defoliation.

Three days since the flip and the little lady is enjoying it it seems. She is growing vigorously now in prep for the stretch. Yesterday she got a top dressing of kelp, castings, crab meal and langbeinite and a half gallon of water to wash it down. She has fully recovered from my rookie watering mistake! How much it has hurt her as far as yield remains to be seen but I'm satisfied that she is now on track and will produce. I want to stress here that the soil mix had nothing to do with her, and several sisters that didn't make it, problem. Purely operator error!
I learned more than I wanted about watering in bags the hard way!

Hey Im still working on the bud site vs what the plant can take thing. You hydro guys don't have that problem.

Once you get the structure down the concept is the same for soil/coco or hydro. The timeline will be extended to achieve the same growth as in hydro - but the results will be the same for photo period plants.

Love the fullish-ness. You say that you do not want to post anymore due to repetition, idk I still enjoy seeing it. Is that the price of perfection?
Don't worry, be happy, grow sticky buds.

                  Flowering Week 3 Day 5: 5 April 2022

Chugging right along - just over 5 weeks to go! Hazel is standing about 56cm (22 inches) and Suzie 2 is following close at 48cm (19 inches). Little Suzie?... well she's still alive but a runt of a thing maybe 13cm (just over 5 inches - still). Limited selective defoliation will continue as needed until week 5 when I will slowly start cleaning up the flowering branches in preparation for harvest. I love this time of the grow; watching the daily changes during flowering still fascinates me.

We are now officially in flower! Little white pistils coming up from those bright limey green centers. This strain colors up like this at the start of flower and stays a couple weeks then fades back to a more normal darker shade as the calyxes fatten up.

While it may seem I'm getting repetitious with the pics now but if you compare this am pics compared to 2 days ago right above here. The S T R E T C H ...! is becoming evident now in comparison! Also note the bright limey green is fading now as tiny budlets form! This is where it starts to become exciting! How much stretch? How big will the colas get? I'm watering every other day now with weak teas. Today she will get a little Alaska Salmon. Too damn bad I managed to kill 6 plants just to get one to harvest! I'm a bit ashamed I got caught out by such a simple rookie error. The best lessons are the ones you pay dearly for!

I pulled the top over horizontal yesterday and the tip is turning upward again but the canopy is more even. Now I'm considering releasing it again just to see how tall a top cola can grow. I have room for another 24 inches without worry about the lights.
