What is the best LED for a 4x4 scrog set up?

I'm looking to buy 1 good LED for a 4x4 scrog set up (usually 2-3 plants). I need to know what will produce the best buds for my money, I don't want to break the bank, but I am prepared to pay for a great quality LED. I'm debating between these 2 right now, but if anyone has suggestions for better or cheaper but still good LED's please let me know.

If anyone has experience with other brands that work well, please let me know.

I'm in Canada, so shipping is a bit of an issue, but I can pick stuff up from a PO Box in the states if need be.

Depends on what you consider breaking the bank. There are a couple places up here you can get a COB fixture built but you'll be looking at $1000 to $1500 CDN. If you can order from the States, I'd buy a PLC6 ($799 USD) from Pacific Light Concepts. Check out greengenes garden on YouTube and his one light, one plant videos.

If you're not set on LED, I'd suggest CMH.

I was going to suggest a cmh because of all the good things Ive heard about them, Crafty there are alot of decent leds out there that wont break the bank .I have 4 Lightmetel 300 watt Leds for my Autos $70 , I think the rule of thumb these days is 2 600s are better than 1 1000 for cost per watt, theirs a thread called cheep Chinese leds lots of people commented

Ya, I think two smaller Leds will give ya better coverage for a 4x4 than one big Led.

You may want to consider a Viparspectra PAR 1200- it will cover a 4x4 easily and has enough LED adjustments to take your plants through veg and flower.
I have used/seen this light grow some amazing plants in a larger grow.

Morning Crafty, plenty of good cheap leds to choose from, but in a tent your size, I'd much rather have 3-4 small leds like the old 300watt lights than 1 large one ,some of them only cost 79bucks, 4 of them only 300bucks or so, plus you already got 1, I think, but you would sure have plenty of coverage ,that way in your size tent. Good Luck with whatever you choose.

i did have the Ultimate Platinum leds
            hope it this helps

Agreed with what everyone has already stated. NO experience with CMH here (not sure of power draw or heat issues), however I have ran a 15'x20' flower room before with HID's (2) 1000w and (2) 600 and although the results were amazing, the power consumption was way too much and heat issues out of the park. I can not praise LED's enough and for a small personal setup in 2x4 tents, they are amazing. As stated above, Get several smaller LED's for the 4x4 tent. I run (2) King Plus 600w (amazon $85/each) in my 2x4 flower tent and perfect light coverage for my needs, power consumption is small and no heat issues..

              Good luck..

Or you could go for the big brother of what I use (p4-xml2), the p9-xml2 designed for a 4x4 tent. My plants are doing great and I've never seen such rapid growth. Granted, I'm new to indoor and LED and have used no other lights, this is still an option for you: https://www.amazon.com/Advanced-Plat.../dp/B015D9KVQ0

Thanks! I did a lot of research and after watching their comparison videos, I was sold on full spectrum LED and their product. I learned about Spectrum King after the fact, but I'm really pleased with my purchase so far.

Definitely do your own research. You will just get opinions (some from sponsored growers who will promote for free goodies) on any web site. There are some good lights that GWE recommends in the tutorial section, and I would trust that information, but still confirm with research.
                completed 7 grows
what I have learned so far:
                environment maters more than nutrients
at least a dab of nutrients in every watering
effective flushing before harvest is critical to quality

To clarify, I was a consultant for a large grow room and did due diligence before recommending the Viparspectra 1200w PAR-, which had just been released.
I don't own a Viparspectra because the company will not tell you the btu's, which is an important factor for small tents, but a non issue in larger grows.

I have a viparspectra Par700, but I can't recommend it because I haven't done a complete grow with it yet, plus it is my first LED, so I don't have experience.

Im using an 1800 watt cob. Chinese built buld sold in the usa. Im in a 4x4 tent the light covererage is rated at 5x5 total. It would easily cover that size grow space. Under 200$ too.

Urbz-that should be a decent entry level unit. Based on the listing, it only uses 300W so it really needs about double the wattage to cover a 4x4 with decent intensity Two of those in a 4x4 would be a decent fit.

I just ordered a par meter im actually going to test the output and footprint. But as of now with the one light at 28-30 inches from what i noticed my furthest plant away from the center of the light the one nearest the edge of my tent is still growing vertical. Theres maybe a foot between my plant and the tent wall. There is no lean towards the light as of yet. I was thinking about ordering a second and daisy chaining them but this is only my veg tent and 3600 watts in a 4x4 seems like over kill to me. Plus with only the one light im having some significant bleaching of the chlorophyll already. The other thing I was thinking was getting 2 smaller leds and hanging them on each side of the 1800.

I take that back actually I've only had the 1800 hooked up since the 2nd of December. Had to look back at dates time is flying by.. The difference of days between pics is 8. The first is from 12/3, the second is from 12/11.

Hey craftygirl stick with the Viparspectra. Order on Amazon.ca, which is the Canadian version. I would get two Viparspectra 450 - they say they cover 2.5 x 2.5. $186 each - Canadian. Or the 600 - $269.

I should mention that my set up is NOT in a tent. I'm currently using the spare bedroom (it's 12x10) and T5 lights, and a metal shelving unit so they are 2 high when growing. with all the lights running the temp got up to 80F every day, and trying to cool it off at night wasn't easy. I'm not looking to use hot lights since it's already hard to keep it the right temp.

Picked up (2) 600 watt Viparspectras on sale a few weeks back for $152 a piece. They are back up to $169. I have yet to use them. (2) 600s make better sense than one 1000 or 1200. https://www.amazon.com/VIPARSPECTRA-...ectra+600+watt Lots of bang for the buck, and only 3% bad rating. The more expensive PAR models have a greater % of bad rating. The people know best at least some of the time.
