Cream of the Crop: Pretty Lights & Barney`s Farm; LSD

PaganRich_ yup, thats my playground back there in the mountains. It is awesome_ About a 1000 sq miles of ice, granite and snow! This last Spring I planted a handful of old seeds in the alpine
on the mt. on the left... but alas...nothing happened...unless something ate them!
They were old seeds anyway so no great loss...I have another place picked out to drop some seed this next Spring_ lower elevation. Going to pick the most rain proof strain I can find...got any ideas?

You must be in Alaska anticipating Aurora Borealis. I've only seen them once live. Pretty rare in the lower 48. Beautiful video done by a guy in Tromso, Norway. https://vimeo.com/21419634
 
Thanks for the tips_ I'm gonna check out both of those and probably order a pack or two. The biggest challenge here is a wet fall....major bummer for outdoor crops. But it would still be cool to try. And if they make it next summer then maybe I'll try an outdoor breeding program...haha...good luck with that!
 
At that altitude I wouldn't bet on any successes. What is your altitude by the way. Those Peaks look like fourteeners.
 
starramus_ naw, I start at sea level so they're only about 5000-7000'. Plenty of a challenge for me! My concern isn't altitude so much as geographic location....my part of the state is considered a "rain forest" even though we're at about the 59th parallel_ mostly its the wet fall_ concerned about bud rot and such. A friend tried growing some young seedlings in a green house this Spring but started too early when it was still getting down into the 50's at night and stunted the plants so they were very tiny and spindly...not looking like a very good chance at success but who knows? if we have a good summer and Fall then maybe luck will be on my side? As long as the deer and bear don't find it a delicacy! I tried answering your email but something seems to have gone wrong. I'll try again...
 
I have been battling mites for just under 4 months now. I feel 90% confident that the veg tent is contained and mite free. I had to use a chemical pesticide which was amazing until after I read about what it did to the mites then I felt bloody guilty-can`t move limbs and slowly starve to death-terrible. However got just the 4 girls in my main tent, 2 are free, I is almost free but eggs still remain, the tent has been regularly cleaned and treated however the 4th lass is budded and so, no pesticide and these little fuckers have now set up base camp on the buds themselves and my non-chem apps cant be used and the alcohol/water sol`n is now ineffective. Decision: Harvest. So I have taken the LSD out to salvage. There were a smattering of ambers. At this rate I might shut down in March and take 6 months off and go easy on my stock til I start again. Very frustrating but I do respect them. Truly indomitable little fighters. Like having a pack of hard core ninjas squatting in there. Anyway, yield is a poor reflection to what this lass should`ve done but hey ho. That`s the end of this grow report. Not fantastic but realistic and that`s what counts :)

my friend - wishing you some bug free months (I don't know when the wish will arrive, likely during any growing hiatus)

maybe - the bugs are the last of 2018 woes, and 2019 is looking up

That is a shame Pagan, because that is one beautiful plant you grew and she would have gotten quite plump.

Have you looked into mite preventatives? Is there such a thing? Where are they coming from???

They don't like cooler temps.
They don't like breezes.
They don't like alcohol/water spray.
Can you buy ladybugs in your country?

Hope that gives you some new ideas.

Bugs belong outside grow rooms where they can be part of the solution, as well as a problem, Outdoors growers I know use some bugs (and plants) to control the ones that mess with their cannabis crops... but that doesn't help those of us who grow indoors! Hope you can get them under control, what a PITA!
 
LurkingInTheGrass alltatup Greetings guys & felicitations....I can`t use predator mites and I`ll tell you why in a sec but I looked through the loupe earlier and there were these 2 mites, one was dead, the other barely moving but it didn`t stop him trying to shag the dead one. I was staggered...truly...I never thought there would be such a thing as a necrophiliac spider mite.Amazing. Now, can`t use predators cos once the mites are gone they then eat each other...it`d be like the Roman Colosseum all over again. Couldn`t take the guilt trip.
Atu...have to say the buds are coming out nicely all things considered and I reckon should be an interesting smoke, hopefully...here`s some I was trimming earlier to a bit of Wanda Jackson...what a talent......will prob have another crack at this next season...:)

Nice nugs there, pal. How many weeks was she at? If you cook them a little and eat them, you'll get high as fk like I did when I ate the leaves during flower. We just don't know the half of the ways she can get us high as fk.

You changed your beloved avatar. I am stunned. But the challenge has been issued. I shall not ignore it.
 
alltatup I reckon another 2-3 weeks under better conditions but it just wasn`t worth the agro. I am only temp using this pic of a replica made of a 7th century Swedish helmet found in Vendel, Uppland until I settle upon something else. I was beginning to feel a tad `stuck` on that image and Spring is coming, I`m currently doing my Spring cleaning-a very long and drawn out affair-and even took `some air` in the back garden this morning. Not for long mind you, it was a bit chilly. How about a Preying Mantis Atu for you? I could see you as a Mata Hari, femme fatale type Mantis. Mysterious but deadly. Drawn to the flames of danger and desire. Yeap, that`s the type of picture you`d want. I`ll have a look for you just in case you like my idea

PaganRich Great minds think of mantises: I picked a mantis last night. She's more pink and plump than mysterious and deadly, but she'll do for now. I loved your old avatar.

starramus As eloquent as usual starramus That is an ink painting done by brush stroke of a Zen Monk with his back towards us reflecting the adage `Be of this World but apart from it ` referring to the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra which says `Form is Emptiness, Emptiness is Form `. Also, I haven`t a clue where that last avatar came from. It was based on a Crow Death mask I believe but it was time for a change though this monk is only temporary but I will alter it in honour of your request
