    Hey oldjarhead!

The place to submit pictures is here: http://www.growweedeasy.com/submit-trophy-pics

Wow you weren't joking, those are some of the sparkliest buds I've ever seen! My only suggestion is to try to take a really clear shot so everyone can really see all the trichomes. I've found it really helps if you can rest your camera/phone on something flat that doesn't move, like a tripod, a table, or even someone else's shoulder :) I've also found it helps to make sure the lens is really clean, use bright lighting, and try to take pictures from a few different angles. I'm not sure if your phone has a few filters or settings, but sometimes it can help to mess with them a little.

Your plant and buds are absolutely encrusted with trichomes and I think you're a great candidate for the trophy pic if you can get a clear pic!

    Take care,
    Nebula

hey NebulaHaze , quick question. do you monitor you reservoir water temp? I only ask because towards the last few hours of the 18/6 lighting My reservoir ends up going above 80f. I do use hydroguard but my gut tells me i should be concerned. I am asking you directly because I couldnt find much about reservoir temps on GWE.com. At one point you mention the 75f +/- 5f is ok, but i couldnt find anything else and info elsewhere on the internet is not consistent. sorry to bother you directly.
Hi lady Nebula. May i take your time a minute or tow please?

I'm a grower almost fully educated by GWE; from the beginning to middle of learning at least. I'm going to talk about air temperature, Please correct me if im wrong. Plants need cooler night only if they face warmer temperature at day. In other word, as Ed Rosenthal says in his book, they prefer constant temperature. The temperature that tied to light level. He also discussed how plant react with excess heat; the process that i cant fully recall but generally they excit an specific molecule at day that allowe them to lower LST. So they HAVE TO face cooler night allowing that molecule to back to normal state. Inversely if plant have cooler night they prefer warmer temperature at day to be able to excit that molecule having energy to stay warm night. They love constant temperature and they try to reach it, don't they?

But GWE says different store. She says "plants prefer cooler temperature at night". There are tons of such things in my mind. I talk if I'm allowed.

Oh, 1 more thing. My second grow is in progress far far better than the first one because of GWE. Thank you.

This is a really great question. One of the reasons we recommend cool nights is because it helps plants deal with heat, as you said, which is extremely common indoors. Another reason is that it will bring out colors if you give warm days and cool nights at the end of the flowering stage. Slightly warmer day temps increase yields, and some growers believe it increases potency to have cool nights because of the stress of changing temperatures. But despite that you still want to stay within a certain range to reduce harshness.

That being said, I've been speaking with commercial growers about temperature, and lately there's been a lot of discussion about high temperatures. Many growers use higher temperatures if they're using CO2, up I to the 90s, because that increases yields. However, it's been noticed that although yields are increased, it seems like sometimes high temperatures sacrifice quality by reducing smell, taste and sometimes it can even make buds harsh.

When I've communicated with Ed Rosenthal, he's definitely a big believer of keeping cooler temps through drying. He flirts with mold-friendly temperatures (60-70°F) and higher humidity (50% RH) while drying, but keeps an extremely close eye and uses lots of care.

I have to agree bud quality seems to suffer at higher temp, though I feel like even if you're not using CO2, keeping the temperatures a little higher around 80 or 85 produces bigger yields, but you have to make sure they get cool at night to help counteract any bad effects from the heat.

So that's just some random thoughts that come to mind. I can see the possibility of benefit to keeping the temperature in the exact same place the whole time, but I'd very interested in seeing the experiments before I subscribe to it, as I know my methods produce very high quality and especially high potency. Also, I imagine the "perfect" temperature probably varies slightly from strain to strain.

You've inspired me to run a side by side test. I'd love to do one tent with a high of 80 and low of 70, and a separate tent with clones that stays at 73 or something, and compare yields and quality. We'll soon be getting a far bigger grow space where we can do more testing :)

Of all the growing "gurus" who write books, I feel like Ed Rosenthal is one of the best. He keeps a very clean grow room, and has high standards. I'd trust that you will get good results by following his instructions. There are many ways to grow, and each has pluses and minuses. A lot of things that increase potency and yields will reduce smell and vice versa, so it's about tuning your grow into what works best for your goals. I'd love to hear the results of any experiments you do. Please PM me because sometimes I miss visitor messages :)
I forgot to tell you that the customer service is great, everytime I emailed any questions I got quick answers and the quality is great very few seeds did not germinate using the paper towel method. After reading your material on Hydro and checking what it is going to cost me I think I will give it a try. Thanks again

Hi NebulaHaze i went through ur post about the cannabis specific nutrients and u list all except Advanced nutrients? i was just wondering why that is bc we all know they are cannabis specific as well? i know u like ur GH nutrients but even if u dont like AN it still should be listed imho Also Heavy 16 should be on that list as well..
I am using flora trio dwc can I add kool bloom along with the trio by generally hydro
Hi Nebula I'm new to the forum but you have responded back to me a few weeks back with grow advice but that was before I found the forum .
Great job and I know its a lot of work .
But can you add a main topic for medical use and grows ?
And maybe one for new members to just say hi without having to post in the problems or tutorial forum ?
The reason I ask is because when I was accepted to the forum the only place I could say hi was under the grow problems heading .
And also I am a wheelchair using grower and grow my own because of costs here and not knowing which strain I might like or will help me with same problems .
Thanks and great site and forum I have learned a

Hey, please feel free to introduce yourself in the main forum! The reason we have everything together is we're trying to keep everything about growing and not diverge off into other non-growing related topics.

We used to have just one main forum but we added the plant problem section because people wanted to separate the problems from the general discussion. But I almost wonder if it was better when everything was together because I feel like people end up missing things between one and the other...

As far as the medical side of things, we're not medical experts so we try to stick to what we know and can help people with, which is growing, but we encourage everyone to ask questions and share their experiences! :)
No doubt! I was so pissed when I read the post I didn't even see the flag! It's about peace, love and growing! Have a safe and happy 4th!
Loved the newsletter today. Are there any actual cases of Cannabis with tmv I.e. Tested by experts. I Have the exact look on a 10 or so leaves but no spreading and growing like rock stars. I know it's the current topic but I'm a bit skeptical without testing. Thanks for the great work you do and hope this doesn't sound snarky .😀also these were from seeds in a first time grow room .

As of yet I don't know of any confirmed cases, but let me know if you do find that somewhere. If your plant is growing strong I wouldn't worry too much about it!

    Hello,

a lot of growers say that their plants spent 4 weeks in the veg stage...

I also noticed that you mention the veg stage can last from 2 weeks to 2 months plus.

my question is does this include 14 days seedling stage?

2 nd question is how can a plant spend 2 weeks in the veg stage when seedling stage alone is 2 weeks?

    Thanks
My og kush is two months old I started it in a stealth mini cfl Dec box let grow for a month moved into a closet with eight 100 w cfl and small twenty five w led for a moth on 12/12 schedule I bout a 1200w cfl and just put in a scrog I hope this makes my yield better do you think I'm to late to scr

Hi NebulaHaze....... I was just wondering if you could take a look at a thread I started based on your manifold technique. I think I got it down, but it seems way too bushy compared to the pictures on your website. Hopefully you can give me some insight if you have the time. I would really greatly appreciate it!! Many thanks!! -GrowDC

Hey, I just answered your thread and I wanted to let you know I'm impressed with what you've done! I will try to make sure I keep an eye on your thread and any questions, but if you ever post a question don't hesitate to PM me so I can take a look, and just to make sure I don't miss anything!
Nebula I hope I am on the right page, I was wondering if i can take pictures with my phone and then transfer them to your website or do you have to have a real computer to do it? I am kinda old 66 and have only had this Samsung phone a year or 2 .Not real smart on this technical stuff but I do have some good pictures of my 31 day old plant. And another thing I live in Mississippi and this state will be the last state to legalize, pitiful. Can they, the law, track me down for putting pictures on GWE?? If so can I change my name on this site? I didn't know what I was doing when I first joined. Thank You for such a great site, I have learned so much in such a short time, big difference indoors, I have always grown outdoors. Thanks again Hal
Nebula could you take a look at my week 4 update I just posted 10 pictures , I noticed yesterday that they were showing signs of a n deficiency but today when I pulled them out to have a closer look I notices one branch would be fine and the next would be affected, so I thought it might be that I had my leds to close, and on one of the last I cleaned their was a few webs in it now the webs could of come from moving them around in my cellar I took my micro scope and took a look I did not see anything but I sprayed with azza max and neem oil . I would really like your opinion thanks so much

I tried to post some pictures and a story to the trophy picture part of the website for the newsletter but I don't think it went through correct. Probably something to do with my phone idk i can upload pictures to the forum though. Can I send them to you this way without other people seeing them?
    NebulaHaze
    NebulaHaze
I looked for a picture from "Burny" but I didn't see one. Normally if you send a trophy picture we might feature it in our newsletter, but if you just wanted to share a picture, you can direct message me and I'll see it!
Are you still into Amsterdam Seeds? Haven't seen them on the site of late.........
    NebulaHaze
    NebulaHaze
Yes, we ended up taking them off the site after a reader wrote in who was having trouble with them. Since we weren't that familiar with them we figured better safe than sorry since people seem so happy with the other sources :)
