  • πŸ“· Are you having trouble uploading pictures to the forum?

Hello everyone! There are several people who are having trouble uploading pictures to the forum. We want to get this fixed as soon as possible!

This is where I need your help!!!!

For those of you who are experiencing problems uploading, could you answer the following questions?
    1. What type of phone model or computer (Windows 7, Windows 10, MacOS, etc) are you using?
    2. What browser (Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, etc) are you using?
    3. Are you using the First Way, the Second Way or the Third Way to upload pictures? (info below)
    4. What exactly is your error message?
We want to get this completely figured out. I thought it was just certain phones but recently StickyFingers let me know they were having trouble on a Windows 10 laptop and I figured I wanted to make sure I have all the information to give our programmers so they can get this fixed.

    1.) First Way

When you're uploading pictures, there's three ways to do it. One is an "attachment" you upload this by clicking the camera icon in the top left corner:

    one-way-to-attach-picture-forum.jpg

    -------------

    2.) Second Way

The other way is to click the A button and click the icon of a picture/landscape.
Click image for larger version Name:	options-forum.jpg Views:	2 Size:	1.2 KB ID:	27606

You get this, click the Picture/Landscape button

    click-picture-landscape-button-forum.jpg

Then click Upload at the top

Click image for larger version Name:	upload.jpg Views:	1 Size:	69.5 KB ID:	56957

    Then click Choose File.

After you've selected the file, click Send it to the Server

Click image for larger version Name:	send-to-server.jpg Views:	1 Size:	25.1 KB ID:	56960

    Then click OK

    ---------

    3.) Third Way

The other way is to click the attachment button (paper with paper clip) and then upload with the little form at the bottom. Click image for larger version Name:	image_4804.jpg Views:	1 Size:	33.8 KB ID:	27610

Then click Insert to insert it into the post where your cursor is.
Click image for larger version Name:	insert-forum.jpg Views:	1 Size:	6.7 KB ID:	27611

Can any of you help me with this?

Im on windows 7,Firefox 64bit.I mostly use the first way because i use hand written tags and [codes] to post videos images and links but i can see everyone's pictures and besides Karlee on one of my posts i haven't had an issue where others can't see mine...

I can now see all the pictures in the OP!

Just so I can tell the programmers, what method are you using to post pictures (first way, second way or third way) and what error message are you getting? If you've tried it all three ways, could you give me all the errors?

As far as videos, you can't really upload them directly to the forum as far as I know, you have to upload somewhere else like YouTube. But you should be able to just copy and paste the Youtube link into the video dialog and it will show a preview. What's happening when you try to do that?

I appreciate everyone's help while we get this figured out!

Lenovo laptop Win 7 32 bit, use Firefox also tried IE, used all 3 methods...methods 1 and 3 returned this error "Image upload failed because the extension of this file did not match the content." Method 2 did nothing, it just hung. My cameras output jpegs as either .JPG or .JPEG in caps. The files were truly photos. Sorry for the trouble, thanks for trying to resolve the problem Nebula.

Thanks Nartak, guess it's not the file size causing these problems. Maybe someone should take control of the programmers' meds until they get this fixed. Naw, that'd be too cruel.

So, we think the problem is that different cameras can save pictures differently, and for some reason the forum thinks certain pictures have "malicious code" and so it tries to block them, even though it's just that the camera did something odd while saving the picture. But they have just told us they fully understand what the problem is now, are working to get this done as their very next update!

So with me, what happened was this.

            ------

I made a new post and uploaded the pictures as a response in a thread. But then I decided I wanted to make it a full post in a NEW thread. So I copied my whole response including the pictures and pasted everything into a new post. For some reason, the copied pictures seemed to work for some people, but not others.

So I deleted the pictures and uploaded them manually in the post itself, then everyone could see them.

It's like the forum uploads the pictures to the post you made it for, but it doesn't necessarily work if you copy and paste the pictures somewhere else.

            ------

Was that similar to what happened to you? Or did you upload the pictures and they messed up without any copy/pasting to a new post?

I really appreciate everyone's help with getting everything tuned up. We're trying to get everything figured out so it's working at 100% by the new year!

            Started writing this
            Code:
Hey Nebula,i tried couple times uploading multiple files but there is one issue for me (W7 x64,FFox x64) First it doesn't let me upload over 3-5 at...If we want to add the pictures to the post between text,we can't!We have to make the post once
And then tried re-uploading just now.Yesterday it wouldn't let me with the 1st way to upload more than 3-5 pics, then it does something with the attachments, when you upload a pic and you insert it it creates an extra attached file in the attachment files list under the text editor! I don't know if this is the forums way of handling different stats of the same file (changing from medium to large or name change when inserted) and so it "ghosts" a new file to give the new setting and when finished it applies them to the post...

The first way allows multiple upload to the max limit and then you can drag&drop the pictures from under the text editor to where you want each pic to be (You will have to take the input line where you want the picture to be by pressing space tab or enter) and you can also double click the picture you have place in the post to edit it's name, description, size(thumbnail,S,M,L)

The second way doesn't let you upload multiple files but it lets you immediately post them at input marker position and double clicking the image allows you to edit parameters such as size, title, description etc. Wont multiple upload

The third way let's you also multiple upload and does not enter the pictures at text input marker on it's own,it let's you decide which photo and where you want it (tab, space or enter to achieve the point you want to place the pic)

All ways will DELETE the pictures and you will have to reupload them if you click REMOVE from the attachment/photo tool!Instead click the photo IN the post and press delete on the keyboard,it will still keep those extra attachments/photos it creates on it's own but they will not appear in your profile, gallery or in photo list.

I've come down to the 3rd way being the easiest and most simple to use so far...

I haven't tried 15 pics at once coz i didn't have them at the time but im sure it will work when i do..Will repost here when i check with 15 pics per way!!

            Code:
             Error!Failed to upload image!
notice and then it uploaded 5/6 pictures twice! So im thinking..I check and it was the same picture both times so i took that pic out and put another 6th pic in,it worked! I can't see anything wrong with the pic..I will try uploading it from URL..

Sticky what you can do until this is solved is this :

Go to https://eyimg.com/ and upload a picture (The "profile is created by the sites cookies which if stored can be used a portal to your uploads for 1 year) and then when the upload is done just select the pic's BBCode link from under the picture and paste it anywhere in the post to see it!Problem is it will come out full size so if prolly will not be like mine next to each other but one under the other...
BBCode of picture looks like this :
            Code:
            [.img]https://i.eyimg.com/3vPOdmZ.jpg[/img]

Hi Nartak. I managed to sort of make it work. Uploaded photo to website, copied link like you said, and pasted into post. This resulted in a clickable link that went to the eyimg website and my photo but no actual photo in the post. When I clicked the link while on the eyimg site, it opened a larger image on the same page, which I could then copy and paste into the post. This resulted in a rather large un-zoomable photo in the post. Still not sure if I did it right Nartak, but at least I was able to post a photo. Thanks for all your help.

Hmmm it shouldn't result in a clickable link to the website, instead it should immediately post that large-some picture you said but since it works you are good for now!!If you want to save the clickable link action to your readers look for the dropdown menu over each picture you upload and select BBCode and copy that link,or you can just type the following without the "." [.img]link[/img] ,where link is the link for the picture!
