There are 20 pages of replies. Sorry if I missed this bit of information.
My root balls have sucked up all the soil so I have a good half inch between the ball and the cup. Are we allowed to add soil?

As long as it stays in the original cup, no transplanting.

        That's what she said.

I might be out. E.C. and G are having a time their cups/ The roots have eaten all the soil, or whatever roots do with soil, to the point where there is a half an inch of space between the root ball and the cup. And there is a bit of an issue with leaf coloring. Hannah's ghost, not pictured, is just showing a little yellowing at the bottom leaves. No curling of the leaves. Also with the gap between ball and cup. The Hulk Sisters get all the same treatment and look super fantastic.
By the time it's time for lights out, I will have either transplanted to a larger pot or trimmed the roots and put back in the same cups with new soil. The first idea is going to put me out. Not sure about the second??? Whatever the case, my will will be done.
      Rule makers?

When we started this competition I figured the plant would get root bound so I used a small plant seed ,but after seeing what others have grown I wish I had used a different strain we are close to the end of it you could fill in the sides of the cup and feed it like it was in coco, water everyday or twice a day that should get her to the finish line , I would also set the cup in some nutrient solution and let her soak it all up otherwise when you feed her it will just pass right though the cup , I know you know all this stuff but I thought you could use a reminder lol good luck

The deed is done. My first do was stuffing soil between ball and cup. No Bueno. Every watering was a five minute soak in nutes, as you suggested. The seed was bagseed and I imagine a tall sort.
I'll probably try again for kicks with Ice Cream seeds. They're supposed to be great for a SOG.

You're prolly right. Those little puff balls got at least 6 weeks to go, and if they're already starving...

But you're totally right about solo cup growing being a great way to see things happen that we've only read about. I think whatever you learn from getting this little girl across the finish line will pay off in spades in your next BIG grow.

day 69 for the solo cup plants. Plan on harvesting the 3BearsOG this weekend plenty of amber showing and she sure looks good for such a small plant. Now I want to grow one in a larger container for sure. smells real strong. The Beary Whitex3Bog, the twin towers is also looking close to ready. She may get chopped at the same time.
Walter White is showing some stresses but with only a couple to 3 weeks left she should finish alright.

Thanks Dinguskahn, They surprised the sh*T outta me to be honest. I was hoping to get 3/4 grams of smoke from each after the 30 day mark.

So i separated the female and my other two plants, they still haven’t shown. All have been flipped for a few days. Timeline isn’t looking like I’ll make the date, but I’ll see if I have something postworthy by then. The female has pistils all over now, and sits at about 18 1/2” probably need to start pruning soon, but not sure how to go about it. Still a fun first grow. It’s weird, but this plant really doesn’t seem to mind the solo cup at all, it’s been happy throughout. Well see how flowering goes. Pictures of the female Entry I have, which is animal cookies bag seed.

I would just take the big fan leafs and leave it alone, as far as sexing goes it will take a week or so in 12/12

Well..she's looking pretty stressed. Flowers are looking healthy but the plant itself...Not so much. Still gaining a bit more height which is odd..i thought her stretch would be over.

I just envisioned a old school Thai Stick looking at that......I think I need a break from weed photos LOL

Fantastic job, everybody! Like Doubledealing72, I also anticipated getting rootbound (it probably is), overwatered and still thirsty, overfed and deficient, and plain old shitty. Sort of masochistic game, really. But these have also been very happy. Very surprising and cool! Thanks again GWE, and Mr.furley for starting this, and everyone's fun posts.

The contraption porn has been especially awesome.

The first of the grow gher solos is just about ready to come down. Great White Shark auto is 72 days from seed, and she has actually not been the healthiest looking, always a little spotty like Calcium deficiency, but kept growing anyway. By now, her fan leaves have all shriveled and been plucked off, and her sugar leaves are getting yellow and starting to shrivel. She's moderately frosty and her calyces have pretty lavendar tips, and she smells like pine and mint, and a hint of lemon.

Can anyone comment on whether Great White Shark is one of those strains that does not get very amber? I've only grown one other haze (White Russian) a few years ago, and I think I remember that one also did not get very amber.

Mango clone is 5 weeks in flower, and thanks to the calendar reminder alerts in early February, she should be able to finish before our deadline. If she's like her mom, which was harvested this week after 8 weeks of flower, and was a joy to grow. Definitely a keeper strain.

"contraption porn" great word for it LOL. I can't look at them with a mouth full of coffee I choke laughing ! So @Dingus does the Mango sorta smell like mango? LOL guess we won't be flying anytime soon to see them in trees? I've been reading up on Alaska Railroad also been watching youtube videos we like it

Nothing makes me happier than causing expulsive laughter. Thank you for that.

It kinda does smell like mango, but in a kushy sort of way. I've got some set aside in a baggie for you if you are free to meet this weekend. Still wet. Costco has shut down their food court and optometry, and limiting entry for shopping.

We went to Alaska on Labor Day weekend of 2016, and got a lot of off-season deals, but the seasonal workers weren't quite shut down yet. We had the bubble top window car pretty much to ourselves the whole ride from Girdwood to Seward, where we got on a Glacier tour boat.

That has been one of our favorite vacations, ever. We rented a car for a week, and spent a couple days in Talkeetna and saw Denali, Girdwood while we took the train to Seward, and then Homer for a couple days of deep sea halibut fishing.

Just got back from a week long convention in Vegas, and was pleasantly surprised at how much she’s continued to stretch!

3 weeks since the flip and now 23” tall. Trimmed up the bottom to push growth to the top, and tried a new trick I learned on YT that’s similar to super cropping, but not quite as aggressive.

Wishing everyone a stress-free environment during this pandemic. Don’t let the media drive you crazy, and don’t look at your investments!

I'm jealous lol. The buds on both that I grew started getting really fat early on, so I was really disappointed that I had to take them down.

Sister Glue - trichomes are starting to get milky white as in cloudy - leaves a little droopy, in 20 minutes they'll be standing straight up. If she doesn't get her daily feeding early enough, she lets me know. 17 inches tall- and phattening up by the day. Click image for larger version

Thanks y'all - someone asked me earlier about yield - I said 50 grams .

Day 73 / 2nd solo wannabe harvested. Beary White x 3bog had 2 main colas naturally so just let her grow. Same as my last one this plant was a stunted dwarf at near 30 days when I transplanted and added root hormone and kelp extract to. She then took off and ended up far better then expected. Total wet weight of 81 grams. Fat little colas and smelling strong. Not as frosty as her half sister 3BOG but still very sticky. mmmm! Can't wait to sample them both.
The roots were yellowish but healthy all the way through. Rootbound didn't seem to be a big issue as long as they received proper nutes and water when needed.

The Main Contestant - Walter White is building lots of frosty flower and will be well over an oz I think. She is trying hard to finish but lower fan leaves are yellowing and dropping fast. Hand feeding all I can to help her along. This plant sparkles all over in the light.

10/4 billyboy. All germinated starting Jan.1st. fastest plants I have grown to date by quite a bit

Great White Shark Auto also ended her contestancy today at 74 days since seed, having achieved 19 1/4 inches, and 57 grams of wet weight.

She was germinated on New Years in a Jiffy Pellet, planted in a cup of Ocean Forest straight from the bag, and fed with MegaCrop from pretty early on because she always looked Calcium deficient. Her leaves seemed to get yelllow, wilt, and die early on. I was intentionally careless in watering her, hoping to overwater and over feed her

I'm not yet sure if she will represent the Gher for judging. Super Dense Auto is also not dead yet, but not done. Mango the photo has anoher 3-4 weeks to to go before she's done.

          Good growing to all y'all.

Great job everybody, some really good plants in here! I’m a little behind in comparison, but I’m hoping I have something even half as good as some of you all!

So when I had one defined female I separated her from the others as they kinda looked like dudes. Well, one of those started popping pistils overnight! So now I’ve got two females. I started with four plants, and I gave the first possible male to my mother and it’s now showing female as well! Lucky for bag seeds. 3/3 so far. I’ve got one more I’m waiting to find out, but it’s my runt anyways. Couple of pics for talking
