    Exhaust fans, round 2

I need some sort of solution for tent exhaust (mainly heat from my light, eventual odor control should be solvable with one tub of Ona Gel or the cooking smells from the downstairs neighbors would cover anything up...yuck). I bought a 6" inline fan, but upon trying to install it discovered two things:

    1) The port in my tent is actually closer to 5" diameter, and I risk damaging it if I try to shoehorn the fan in there.

    2) The fan is way too loud, which becomes even more important as the tent is getting moved into my bedroom, although I should only need the exhaust when the light is on. The closet is full of random crap (very little of it is actually mine) so the tent won't fit in there.

Somehow I doubt a desk fan aimed out is gonna cut it, although if I ever get the window AC unit in I can leave the tent open more which should provide enough airflow for a small fan to do a decent job. Anyone have any ideas?

There are 6"-5" reduced fittings. How is the fan monted?
If you hang it from rubber rope its a lot quieter, but stability can get tricky. I could be wrong but a 6" fan seems big for a 2x3 tent, especially when using led.
How about a speed controller? If you slow the 6" fan down maybe quieter and still transfer enough air.
    Good luck

I hang my 6 inch exhaust fans with a flat rubber bungee/rope find a beam screw in one side pull tight screw in other side slip the fan mounting bracket under rope and let it settle , before I tried this you could hear the fan though out the house on all 3 floors because of vibration
I have a couple of questions how big is your light and do you have your exhaust attached to it my fan pulls threw my light and carbon filter .
Do you have any 90 degree turns in your duct work
Can you post a picture of your tent
an led light should not be giving off that much heat I'll take a couple of pictures of my bloom room, in my veg rooms I have a couple of 4 inch fans in and one 6 inch out I have 6 300w leds on one side and 1 8 bulb t5 and a 4 bulb t5 both are 4 feet long on the other and I dont have a heat issue in there

I went through several fans before finally getting a 6" Vortex. It doesn't pull as much cfm as other 6" fans (340 cfm) but is really quite and keeps temps where needed for my small grow space with a 315 LEC light. I also use a variac transformer for speed control. Cheaper speed controllers can cause a harmonic hum in fans when set for lower speeds. I would have saved money if I had just bought current set up first instead of going through 4 exhaust fans! Also, everything I have read about Ona Gel is not for use inside grow room or near grow room intake. Apparently the odor can be absorbed by your buds! Hope this helps!
