I don't know, but the plants are all very healthy & except for a short-lived & easily solved iron deficiency I haven't had any issues.

    BillBates,
Without more details I can only speculate as to the cause...but with the info given I would say that your soil is acidic. The well pump may be causing aeration which can raise ph, then after it settles the ph lowers itself. Good luck

Our tap water comes from a 500' deep aquifer. It's as soft as a rose petal but it's 8.0pH. I don't do shit to it & the runoff from my pots is consistently 5.4 - 6.2. Wut up wit dat?

I drain my hot water heater every once in a while to flush out all of the mineral deposits. Seems to help longevity in hard water areas.

I would hate to live in a hard water area. Ours is 65ppm coming out the tap. Best tasting water in the world. Id tell yoi were. But im paranoid about everything. Sometimes my shadow makes me jump. Lol

so I'm watering yesterday after driving back from pittsfield (2 hour drive ) ,And I here like a big bubblier WTF well I looked over and my sisters water hearer is leaking like the faucet was turned on ,with in two minutes I was standing in a half inch of water ,it took that long to move all the shit in the way to reach it to shut it off then I cleared all the stuff in the way and checked it out the leak was coming out of the out flow pipe , so I'm going to remove it and see if all that blew was the pipe . Last time I did a water heater it was under $200 the cheapest one I saw on Lowes website was $350 yikes so I hope it is only the pipe ,Gotta love this hard water town , Actually I did good most people only get 2 to 4 years with there hot water heaters Its been ten years since I put that one in and my water heater is over 20 years so I did good dam I hope I didn't just jinks myself
