What is your biggest question about growing cannabis?

It can be done. People do it fairly often. You can see lots of videos on YouTube. Different methods of washing for different stuff you're washing off.

can you point me in the direction on using tap water (my only option) post? and using tap with cal mag im so confused because people say tap has all the minerals u need so no need for cal mag or something to that affect however ive seen grows on you tube using tap + cal mag and garden looks beautiful,i am torn
 
I converted from using CFL's to a Viparspectra 450W LED and can't figure out how far to keep the light away from my blooming babies. Everything I read gives different heights. They're currently 20 inches away and went into bloom 3/10 (auto-flowers).

lost some beautiful White Widows to light burn my last time around and now have a 32" x 32" x 64" grow tent, exhaust fan/carbon filter, dehumidifier and intake fan so I'm much better prepared but still feel like I can't figure out the lights.
 
so Reb I hope I can help I have hard tap water that means my water has dissolved solids in it by knowing what these solids are then you can cut down on those nutes that are lacking ,Now to use tap water I let it sit over night in a 5 gallon open bucket this allows the chlorine to evap . I still give my girls my full range of nutes when they are needed
 
I started at 18 it burned the plants went to 22 they started stretching so I went to 20 inches and the plants love it just have to play around with it for a week or so
 
The search function works great WADE both for tutorials and for looking for thread topics. It’s pretty easy to start your own thread but I learned the most reading through all the great tutorials and hitting the links as I was reading each thread following it along to its conclusion. Yeah it’s a great search function and GWE I find to be the most Intuitive and user-friendly what exactly did you need help with.?

hello, am a first time grower living in west Africa,I have the option of grow outdoor while I save up for an inverter and solar panel for indoor grow, but I really don't want to wait since I have the seed now, it's really sunny here but am not sure if I can get the 18hrs needed for vegetative weeks, what are my options, I have 3 regular ata tundra, and other auto seed... really need help on what option are best for me....thanks in advance
 
More than 12 hours of sunlight per day is good enough. If the days are getting longer, it's going to be vegetative state. If the days start getting shorter, it'll soon start flowering. The plant knows when winter is coming and so start to flower.
Autoflowering will not require such light limitation, you could give it 8 hours of light per day and it would still flower, but you'd end up having a small plant. Autoflower is time limited though, once it's sprouted you can count 3 months til harvest.
 
A few months back I got really interested in growing my own bud. I was so grateful to have found GWE, I read every page, I bought the book, read every bit of that (yes I am a bit of a nerd), a great anecdotal story in the book inspired me to go totally organic. Using the generous guidance of GWE, I have assembled a tent (photo attached). It is 4x4x6.5 feet in size, and by my calculations, determined I needed 400CFM of circulation in order to replace the entire tent's air the suggested 3 to 5 times per minute. It ended up being a fan/filter system that weighed close to 80lbs!! So I added wooden support to the tent (see photo). After firing up the fan it sounded like an airplane landing, so it quickly became obvious that I needed a fan speed controller, so I ordered one, tried it and it was actually noisier. I did a bit of research and found out that the fan speed controller suggested by Amazon is not the proper type, given the duct fan's motor type, after doing a bit of research, I got a Variac (photo attached), I definitely suggest this for duct fan speed control, at 50% power, it is whisper quiet.

I got my seeds, and started by soaking them for 14 hours in water, then put them into Rapid Rooters with a heating pad below it, and temperature controller, I put an extra rapid rooter in the tray and put the thermal couple in it to monitor grow medium temp. That was one week ago, after just a few days they were ALL in various stages of sprout :). They ALL now look like the attached photo . Here are my questions:

1. I started the sprouts with a dome - but the "soil" temp got way too high, so I propped up to allow some circulation. but there was no humidity increase plus I was worried the dome was impeding the light, some of them are really leggy...the question is should I put the dome back?? If so, how long should I leave it on?

2. I worry that the rapid rooters don't provide any nutrients, should I be transferring them to cups with soil now??? GWE suggested that the seedling can stay in the rapid rooter until roots begin to emerge from the bottom, would it be better for them be transferred to soil now?

3. How long can I leave the plants under the fluorescent light?

4. I plan to use LEDs for the Veg and Flower phases, my plan is to use 4 450 Viparspectra Reflector series light fixtures, that would deliver 50W per sq/ft, less than the suggested 60W/sqft, are the 4 450s enough?

It looks like your off to a great start. The dome is not needed for seeds. You can lower your lights to just a couple inches above the plants to prevent stretch. You should be ok in the riots until the roots show. I think 4 450’s should be enough I am using a 450 and a 600 in the same size tent with decent results. Hope this helps I’m sure someone with more experience will help soon.
 
Overkill on the fan you could go with half of that as long as the hot air is going out and fresh air is coming in it doesn’t have to be five times a minute or three times and it just has to happen regularly. Seriously I’d see if I could exchange it for a lower power higher-quality fan and I would also spring for clamps that have rubber lining to help reduce the vibrations and the noise. I must’ve missed the tutorial where they said use a variac, I’d see if I could return that too.

Hi every one I'm new to the site and new to growing my biggest question is I'm worried about plant training, is all the worry for nothing I've read all the tutorials but still a bit worried about topping and fiming might just do the easy bending method. Still got a while seedlings only 10 days old 😀
