What is your biggest question about growing cannabis?

if you add live microbial amendments to organic soil and allow it time to compost and you give the microbes the conditions they need to thrive, yes is can become a living soil over time. You must be exact in your preparations and follow directions to create it and to treat it as a living whole including your plants and their total whole environment. It doesn't happen over night. The soil needs to be agitated and allowed to ferment into a living soil by activating the organic amendments with water, sunlight, oxygen and carbon dioxide. Here are recipes for making Biodynamic soils, amendments, fertilizers and magic potions to bury in a lactating cow's horn during a full moon.

Thanks again, Paracelsus. Of course I want all the benefits of live organic soil, but I don't have the will or energy (today) to do all that mixing and waiting. I was hoping for a stupidly easy hack. So far, I'm using Fox Farm Happy Frog and Ocean Forest, and I've been adding Bushmaster Microbe Brew which is mostly bat quano and earthworm castings, and a long list of microbes. I may go down to the bait shop and get a little tub of worms to add to the soil. I wonder if the LEDs will hurt them.

Your right it is a lot of work , aand you need a lot of room and time to do it correctly, from autumn to spring.
I lived on a Biodynamic farm in Spring Valley.

Help. My 4 plants in a 3 by 3 grow tent are doing seemingly well after about 7 weeks with a 300w knockoff LED panel. I have a 600w HPS setup ordered, because i am having to add a lot of heat to keep temperature up and might as well get the benefit of the HPS (so I am told). i've got to leave town for awhile sometime soon , so I started them on 12-12 yesterday. I did read in one of the posts that changing lights could shock the plants, so now I wonder if I should add the HPS when it arrives. Does it make sense to change the lights out if they arrive withing a week or so of switch to flowering? I will be leaving them under my wife's care for most of the flowering stage, so i do want the climate stabilized as much as possible. Thanks.

In a drain-to-waste fertilizer regiment, what are you supposed to do with your runoff that's collected?

I read the GWE GH feeding chart and even there I couldn't find anywhere about what a person does with the runoff once collected.

A lot of people I have spoken to, use runoff or res changes to water stuff around the yard. I don't know of anyone putting it down the drain. I dont water to runoff but the excess I mix up goes to flowers and fruit trees. For the most part I think most cannabis growers are conscious of the environment. But there are bad apples in every bushel. They aren't likely keeping a journal and helping others & freely sharing experience though. 😉
Cheers

How big of a deal is pot size? I have three gallons and 3 plants that wall to wall fill my 4x4 tent and they are crowding each other in hieght and width. I will probably go with two next time, but wanted to know if anyone believes a 5 gallon pot would really affect much?

Depends on the strain, training, lights, so many things, 5 gallon at what stage of growth? a mature strain can need 7gal or more What are you growing in?

You have a free library card. good luck

A smaller pot will limit plant size. If you use one big pot, you will be better able to grow a bigger plant. Or you could plant several plants into one giant tote that fills your tent floor. You may create other problems that way, but the roots would have more room to grow and have more access to more earth to grow more plant.

Would you explain a bit further? I understand much can be a factor..... but in simplest terms for indoor growing help me understand this:

Does a five gallon over 3 make considerable difference?

What would be the largest difference? Quality, quantity or other factors like increasing speed of growth?

I am thinking about changing but want to know if it would truest affect anything in a tent or would I see minor t no change in a 4x4 tent with two plants.. (I have three but the tent is wall to wall crowded in between them so I think I will go to down to one or two next round. Lots will be smaller due to cramping.)

Hi fellow growers,I'm a newbie who harvested his first plant ever few weeks ago. It's Girl Scout Cookies by Fast Buds. The thing is beautiful, both look and high.I obtained purple buds thanks to cold temps.
Actually,I don't really care about how much I got from it,I just want myself to be able to get relavitely free weed every night. But I still have a question, not my biggest question though.
The process took 10 weeks from seed,plant was pretty healthy throughout her lifespan.No heat stress,no nut burn,no overwatering and I applied Tang's Easy Auto Feeding Schedule.Temps was optimal,humidity was low during whole process(%30-%45 . the city is too dry,I couldn't be able to increase humidity even with a humidifer) .My question is;
fast buds say it can reach %22 THC but I think it requires more experience. For a plant like this, what would be,roughly speaking, the potency range?
(I have its diary on growdiaries, search for 909HighRoller for a closer look at the plant.)

your right, it would require I experience it LOL
If all conditions were ideal you could expect THC near or above that mark, but without hitting every mark with every trick in the book it is only an arbitrary number. Your experience and my experience wouldn't be comparable unless we were in the same room at the same time smoking the same joint and then it would still be arbitrary based on our past experience.

Hi Dede, unless you want to pay a lab to test it, your best bet is the Smoker's Test. Get your weed expert buddies to tell you how they like it.

Actually, the Paracelsus, Alltatup, and I are a triumverate of THC testing technology. We're like the precogs from Minority Report. We can tell you exactly how strong your pot will be before it kills you.

What is the key to getting larger more dense buds? Also in a 6x3 tent what would be the best light option for optimal results? (preferably LED)

I've been following your thread, your plants should be in good care while your on the road. You have provided them with a strong beginning.

I like LED’s but I am not sure about quoting a preferred brand. My preference is a large style COB, and you can find DIY instructions if you want to build.. you can even find ready to assemble kits so you can customize to your shape.

I have two questions, I have searched for both but have so far come up empty. First, when the nutrient schedule includes a transition period, is this the week before you flip to 12/12 or the week after flipping to 12/12 before flowers start to form? Second, what is the bare minimum amount of light to get to a successful harvest if you are concerned only with producing a few seeds and have no concern for yield or even getting any consumable material? My idea is to take six clones (because they are different strains) and put them into small DWC totes in a circular pattern then suspend a 42w 2700k cfl vertically in the center. Would they survive and mature like this? I don’t want to pollinate them in my tent and would like to not have to DIY any sort of fancy lighting solution if it isn’t completely necessary.
