alltatup i just need to come play with all your toys so I can make my medicine better.

My Dr says I dont need a Buchner Extractor, or a machine to decarb plant matter and he also wouldnt sign off on a bottle of Spiritus 195proof or Everclear 190 proof as he says thats not medicine. Oh well. Guess my Green Dragon, RSO, etc will have to do.

All kidding aside in his most recent book "Harvest" Ed Rosenthal says in several places that soaking bud in water before being decarboxylated would remove a significant amout of the chlorophyll and more importantly the green taste many dont like in edibles, or tinctures. So assuming vap juice too but cant remember. Anyone else know that to be true? Obviously you cant use cold water or agitate it or you would lose all the outer trichomes. But i dont see how it would not weaken the final product somehow.
 
Spidermite, Is your doctor a Cannabis specialist? A "Buchner" isn't an extractor: it's a kind of filter for removing very fine particles of like 5 microns and suchlike. It's used for making concentrates--I like all the green stuff in my tinctures.
 
Yes I know what they are just was poking fun at alot of so called healers (Drs.) They dont cure anything and not even sure alot still manage illness or symptoms. And yes in my tinctures i dont even really strain it much. I love the flavor and love edibles made with good old fashioned Cannabutter from the crock pot. I want the full array of nutrients it provides.

But would still love some of those toys you have alltatup. You would think we were making moonshine with our old fashioned tools here. Lol At least for making essential oils.i did go back through some of your writings and would love to have some of the tools you have at your disposal. But I did at least order a full Buckner Filter kit.
 
Can't beat homemade. Actually, I am making tincture for various friends--some with much more CBD than THC, some THC-heavy, and some 50/50. I've been concentrating tincture and reclaiming the Everclear for two days, so yeah, I love playing with these marvellous cannabis machines.
 
Did this a LONG time ago with Everclear and a mason jar. Had it in my closet, shook it up often. When put into a hotplate to reduce, we noticed it started smelling like plastic.

The Everclear dissolved the plastic ring on the metal lid and the entire oz. of Mexican Brickweed was ruined. Well, ruined-er. Unusable.
 
Freeze the weed for at least 3hrs. and freeze the alcohol for 12hrs. then filter. This will give you filtrate almost free of clorophyll. Try filtering outside in freezing temps and you get a clearer liquid. I would love to try filtering in below freezing temps but never gets cold enough here. Tried once in freezer and worked great but wife was not happy.
