Seed versus clone

I would like some opinions on seeds or clones pros and cons for each I have never cloned I get it, doesent look hard.but herd more problems with clons ?

Hi potted, don't like clone's. Slow growing. Seem like clones take too much time. If you have the mother and you know what you're dealing with that's all good. I spent year's buying clone's before I decided to go to the extra cost of seeds. I'm now in the process of breeding my own feminized seeds.......very first attempt!
 
Seeds work for me as well. , I plant em behind the shelter next to the Septic! GREAT SECURITY who would want to go there anyway? 300 homeless just ate TB bean burritos (donated)
 
Total seed person here. I have made clones, gifted clones,bride a Tangie clone from flowering lady.
Love seeds.
 
I'm on my first round of clones and i prefer seeds. I have ran into minor issues in veg and managed them but i knew the mother well.

On the flip side i flowered a clone from the same mother a week after it rooted and it had zero problems and produced fat colas!

​​​​​​My seeds have only just gone in which is great timing because I'm due a harvest in about 2 weeks. I already have another female at week 5 from seed which will be switched to 12/12 when my harvest comes down. She will be the one I turn into my male. Using 'holy grail kush' by dna genetics. Looking forward to it myself. Someone on here must of tried this before. If so do you know of any results?
The problem is that we won't really know any proper results till about the end of July.
​​​​​​I will be using the 'collodial silver 'method purchased online but 45 ppm not 30 ppm just to be sure.
 
Clones put me on a schedule for growing. Hurry up ! it might have effected my harvest being clones but I was right up in the it's a good harvest . I like seeds for the unrushed gota clear one tent for the other, to me it's like living in the city i live in a small town :-)
 
I've had great success with seeds, but am definitely going to have a go at cloning. As for clipping the tips, I think it is to stop the progress of those leafs and redirect the energy into making roots.
 
Haha liking this thread I've been thinking of keeping a clone of a grow to carry into the next grow. And keep it under a single CFL so it looks super adorable!
 
Hi Kingfish. Some say it's done to reduce transpiration. Since the cutting has no roots it cannot easily uptake water, so you want to help it keep what water it has. Others say that cutting the leaves halfway off causes the cutting to root faster. Jorge Cervantes says it's done to reduce transpiration.
 
Hi Potted. Clones have no taproot. They can harbor pests and disease. Other than that, I believe clones grow as well as seeds if you have good stock. I have had equally good luck with both. The first year I grew, I grew only clones. Second year a mix of clones and seeds. Last two years seeds only. I only know one person who grows good clones, and he only grows about six strains. From a seedbank I can buy an ever increasing number of really fine strains that I can't find anywhere else. Clones are good if you want to grow lots of one particular strain. You can grow a seed and clone it, as long as it's not an auto. I suppose you could clone an auto too, but it probably wouldn't work out well. I have become a seed guy.
 
I GROW- both ways, as each has it's own benefits. for example:
I always cut at least 2 clones from each plant, in case I get an unusual or very good plant and want to preserve the "known" properties going forward.

Quite by accident I cut a couple of clones, which formed buds the next day in the clone bucket.
It did return to veg and the resultant clones and all the ones after have an unusual growth pattern- which is almost self defoliating- yup no need to trim these clones at all. (currently comparing it to a clone that was defoliated to the extreme).

Once my next crop of photo seeds/clones is complete- I am dialing into all autos -seeds only- to create a perpetual harvest.

I also like photo seeds for long veg times in the summer- as it's less effected by heat than flowering plants.

This is an AK-47 clone. I grew the first one from seed more than a year ago. Clones are one of the best things about photoperiods. Have fun !! Grow in peace !!
