Second grow, rough start with yellowing between veins and twisted groth

No Title

Stil not fully recoverd but they've finaly dried out real good and its getting better and better for each day. On the right path, curious of how they'll do when the flip is switched. Is 1 one week after replanting suficcient before going 12/12?

They look great! As far as when to switch to the flowering stage, it's generally recommended to switch to 12/12 when the plants are about half the final desired height, since they'll usually about double in size after the flip. So if you have room for them to be two feet tall in the end, you would switch to 12/12 when they are about a foot tall. Some strains stretch more than others after the flip, but that's a good general rule of thumb :)

Okay, well I will be the first to admit CO2 is pretty awesome and I completely understand why you feel the ways you do... so I will tell you something I wouldn't normally... If you are going to stick to using CO2, depending on the size of your growing area look at CO2 bottles for smaller areas and CO2 generators for larger areas. I did a little price surfing for a friend last year, and found a used CO2 tank on Craigslist for $50, but a new one was only $108 and since they need to be tested every 5-years to see if the tank is still good or if you have to replace it, seriously buy DOT Approved and by NEW. If you buy a tank and it doesn't meet DOT Approval nobody will fill your tank and once they find it doesn't meet specs they won't give it back to you either in some places because it is a serious safety issue, I've seen this issue happen before when a tank has been pulled for random inspection.

So the CO2 50# tank will set you back $108, a CO2 Regulator will set you back another $100-$120, to fill the CO2 tank should run about $25-$35 and then I personally love to tell new growers to check out the DEC-4 by Sentinel as their environmental controller. The DEC-4 will handle the Cooling - Heating - Humidity and CO2 (set to come on at 1100-ppm and off at 1300-ppm) and costs $280. I looked at a few CO2 controllers, that don't do anything else for just $200+... so to get one that does it all for $280, with a 5-year warranty when most others say 1-3 years... Oh and the DEC-4 on its CO2 setting has Day Free, the CO2 is active as long as its daylight, Day Lock the controller keeps CO2 levels 1100-1300 and Night the setting on it for those mushroom growers who struggle to find a night CO2 controller. Well you get the idea why some things just stick in your mind. I mean you can do your own math and see which setup will be most cost effective for you, but the CO2 tanks and CO2 generators are the cheapest long term, just make sure you set it up to be airtight to run CO2 like this. Hope this helps.

Thank you :o Still got about 6 feet to the roof, but its the floor area and timeframe that restricts plant size. Was thinking of replanting to 2.5 instead of 4 and flipping as soon as the roots have established a good system. Found some 7 "x 7" x 17" pots, quite tall and deep yet not taking up much floor space but looks a bit silly tho

What a tool! Just LOVE gadgets like these, toys for men! Can fiddle with the buttns and see it all work perfectly together. And it also controlls the ventilation so CO2 isn't burped out of the room and wasted. Thank you for the tip, thats one hell of a room controller :D

Can you say from the pictures if they're indica or sativa dom? Maby hard to tell when using both 2700 and 6500k lights together makes it tighter like indica?

It should also be noted that the plants should be at least 2-months old before putting them into flower, when you start a plant from a seed. This doesn't apply to clones, because the mother plant is commonly 2-months old or older so when you take a clone it's the same age as the mother plant so once it has roots and gets going you can flip it to flower as some do. Otherwise as it was pointed out you want the plant half the height you plan to have them at when you flower them. If you try to flower a plant before it is 2-months or more mature it can refuse to go into flower because its not mature enough to yet. Hope that helps.

Make sure to let your young marijuana plants get a minimum 2-3 weeks in the vegetative stage before changing them over to flowering. Your plants will be healthier and will start flowering at the same time as if you started 12-12 from when they first sprout.

I was relying on this information because there is not time in my spring callendar for 9 weeks veg :(

This is a common misconception, and it's what I was taught when I first started growing, too! But cannabis plants can actually be forced to start flowering as soon as 3 weeks from seed. If you start a plant on 12/12 from seed it will usually put out its first pistils around week 3-4. But just like you said, you definitely want to wait longer to start flowering because you'll get extremely tiny yields on such a small plant!

Yes, don't worry, they will start flowering if you give them 12/12 after another week or so :) It may take them a week or two to make flowers but then you'll be fully in the flowering stage. Believe me, I've tested this a lot!

hey, NebulaHaze , thanks for clearing that up...and so quickly....i was wondering what was up bc 1 reliable source, Greenthumb, says not-P, but other uber-proven, uber-reliable source says P.... i deal w/such things by going w/uber proven but still....makes my hard drive whir....;)

oh, and just for completeness and for the lurkers, (i was one for so long i try not to forget them and that they may not be able to ask questions bc of stealth type considerations) the "tried and true" rule of thumb for inducing flowering is to flip to 12/12 when the plant reaches halfway to the ultimate height the grower wants/has space for. and for certain pure or mostly pure sativas the ratio would be 1/3 but those are their own thing.

Thanks for clearing that up, its a load of my back! Was initialy reading Greenthumb's statement with the panic goggles on. Now looking i can see it sais words like "should" and "can" wich opens up the possibility and is not a definate claim of persistance like a hard knuckled rule. Anyhow i hope my soon to become girls will be open for flowering after ca. 25days of veg. If i knew what strain, or atleast Indica/Sativa, the flowering times would be a bit narrowed down and there might be more time for veg

Well all I can say is this... I can tell you the exact name of the book, page number, etc... and even quote the passage that says it as it directly is a book written on "cannabis breeding"... I have heard a few times about some people having issues with not being able to flip a plant into flower before... now is that because of light leaks, the plant isn't mature enough, etc... I do not know because I myself have never had this issue. It is something I did not previously know before reading it, and perhaps it applies to 1% of growers running into an issue... just know this information does exist and I didn't get it 2nd hand from an untrusted source.

I see, got it all sealed off so no lightleaks will delay flowering, used the techniqe u describe earlyer : ) Can you see from the pictures if its ind/sativa? Would love to give them as much time as possible before going 12/12. My untrained eye says indica and hoping it is. The name of that book would be awesome if you could share Greenthumb, as im hooked on cannacultivaton and the knowlege that follows

To be honest I have to rely on a lot of what the books tell me on this answer... but they say most strains out there nowadays are going to be a hybrid mix of India and Sativa, that is why these big breeders go out and scour the world over looking for the true pure Indica and Sativa's to try to bred out new strains because there is so many hybrids out there. All I know is that when looking for seeds I do see a lot of hybrid mixes and it has been harder to find a pure India or Sativa seed... When you plants are bigger it will be easier to tell based off their structure.

Strainhunters on youtube explain aswell what you describe here Greenthumb. What an effort they put in to find pure cannabis. Even the primordial strains are watered out by commercial seeds in the wild.

Will post some pictures later and see if its possible to determine some dominant features.

Thanks to everyone contributing here, learned allot this week :)

It's hard to say for sure at such a young age, but they don't look particularly stretchy like a Sativa usually does, so I would be surprised if they more than doubled in height :)
