New to the forum with dumbish questions.

I'll start a journal here sometime if I have time. Otherwise I'm just going to wander around answering and asking questions, dumb and otherwise. :rolleyes:
I'm away from home right now and the grow has been on a hastily improvised autowatering setup for two weeks now. Back soon to see if the girls survived. I'm always short on time but it would be fun to start something here if life spares me the time.

Ok, It looks like I'm going to have to break down and ask this next dumb question because I want to have a real avatar picture like the cool kids. Like you guys. Looks like first I'll have to be dumb if I can even hope to be cool one day

I'm kind of wondering if the site isn't very iPhone friendly?

Because I seem to be having a lot of issues with the screen not staying put. I'll scroll down, and suddenly the screen scrolls up again all in its own, Making it very hard to get to the bottom of the screen where some of the important options usually tend to hang out. Like 'cancel' or 'next'. Also other issues with screen options covering up the text window and making it difficult to type.

Anyway... re the avatar. I click on the 'edit avatar' link in my profile, browse my photos and upload a pic of my Critical Cheese leaf. I get the picture below on the left.
In the instructions it says to 'drag on the corner' to align the pic how you want it to be for an avatar. I've dragged and dragged everything in sight and nothing drags. The best I can get for an avatar pic is the one you see now up by my name. I've reduced it to 200 pixels- then 150, but that didn't make a difference.

This stupid looking avatar will sure never get me in with the cool kids. But I'm leaving it up there for now anyway.
It's not really important. But I must be missing something basic cause everyone else here seems to have proper avatar pics. ??

Karlee-re your question about the root rot- I haven't had a lot of experience with it thankfully, but I think generally yes- it has a fouI rotting smell. Those hempies never were doing well once they hit flowering. I pulled the worst one of the six just before I left, and it had almost no roots left. I drilled holes in the bottoms of all the hempies- turning them into regular pots. I don't think it will save them, but I didn't have time to try a complete reno and replant.
 
just edited my avatar. took awhile and worldwide web didn't crash (I'm not a computer guy at all) I drug the rectangle box over the avatar box then went to the edge of the pic in the rectangle and you expand and diminish top and bottom of pic till its centered like you want it. hope I understood and helped. good luck
 
Thanks spinzella. Delicious looking avatar. I'm thinking it might be an iPhone problem(?). The situation looks straightforward- and it seems intuitive that I should be able to drag the edges to expand the avatar picture frame- but it doesn't work when I try to drag them. At best I can get the picture to jump around a bit. A lot of the pages on this site seem a bit jumpy for me actually- like I'll swipe to scroll the screen and instead get some sort of unexpected action where the screen jumps in a random direction -or generally doesn't do quite what I tell it to. I've never had this problem with my phone on any other sites.
Not the end of the world. I'll make do- go back to the generic avatar if I can't get it sorted out.
 
Ok cool. Thanks a lot. I don't have a pc, just run everything on iPhone/iPad, so hopefully the iPhone issues on the forum don't run too deep.

Edit- gone back to the generic avatar for now. The funny thing is it looks quite a bit like me...
