Milligrams in a Canna Cap

I just read the recipe for Canna Caps. 5.5 grams of flower, baked, cooked in oil, strained with oil divided into 50 caps.
My question is, how can I calculate the miligrams of THC in each cap. Let's say the flower is 15% just for argument's sake.

So if I multiple 5.5 grams X 15%, I get .825 grams of THC. Divide .825 by 50 and I get .0165 grams or 16.5 milligrams.
So a body would have to eat about 6 caps for a 100 ml dose?

Yes, I left out the amount of oil the baked flower is slow cooked in. I'm thinking that's irrelevant as I'm working with 50 doses so volume per dose doesn't matter.

My preference would be use to use a pipette and just measure the oil that gives the desired ml dose. Just skip making the caps and store all the oil in a refrigerated jar.

Does that make sense?
 
Nice. You may wanna go a little over just to be sure they're strong. Cause decarb a little too much or a little too little and you'll end up with <15% THC.
 
I make infused oil or veg. glycerine and figure out how strong the oil is by using a half tsp as a starting point and either increase or decrease the amount according to how strong the batch is. In the winter time I use the oil in a cup of hot coco and in summer time the veg. glycerine to make sweet tea.
 
Good idea. I need to measure pretty carefully as my wife is very sensitive. She's had unpleasant experiences at between 10ml and 20ml.
Me? 100-150 ml is the starting point. I use Everclear for extraction, the evaporate. I've doubled what's caught over BHO across several batches.. Of coarse, a lot of people don't like all that extra stuff.

That will be the trick. I've gotten lucky with some butter and sautee a bud, and I've been unlucky with an oven. I got a digital induction hot plate for precise temps and calibrated it with a new digital thermometer. So hopefully, I can work out a precise protocol.
 
Good question and good comments..need to reread. My understanding is that one has to have the original product (bud) tested for its THC amount by a lab to gather how much bud per oil/butter will yield a certain amount of THC. I have not done that..I follow BadKats recipie for oil and -her shit is strong! I would like it to be less strong as well as really wishing to know how much THC is in my cookies caps or tinctures.So..I always add more than necessary.
 
You are absolutely right. I just need to get close enough to (1) Not sleep for 18 hours unexpectedly (2) Not waste a lot of time and material (3) Not see my wife turn into a very uncomfortable person. It will be a batch to batch thing which will take some experience.
I was gifted with some very lab oriented, sealed, certified, dispensary gummies that were 100 ml. OK effects, but felt very "pharmaceutical" . Felt like a very thin spectrum of experience.
It was a bit weird. More than a bit. And motivating to DIY.
 
It is difficult with edibles: Personally I cant do them-1/4 of my ButtUglyBoobie cookie gets me hammered. I prefer tinctures or a toke or two. (now get to try a mini hit on my new bong :) Caps are the same - edible. Some get hammered, some get sleep. some get happy task oriented BUT I do find that properly cured bud makes for no racing thoughts...very important to me :) At least with tinctures you know where you are in 15 minutes and can titrate or not as needed.

I've never tried making a tincture before. How long does it take to be ready....do you need to carbolize first?
The first time I took a hash cap I didn't feel much after hour or so. So I took another. Still didn't feel much an hour after that so I took a few bong hits and ten minutes later I was so high all I could do was stay on the couch. It all took me by surprise.
From what I've been able to tell the only way to truly tell what percentages of the and bbd are present is to have a specific amount tested by a lab.
