Leaf curling prob

Hi everyone.

I started germinating my seeds on 9 Oct directly in Coco/Perlite mix, 1st grow. After 2 weeks applying 0.6 dose recommanded by GH even with 2 times more CaliMagic dose i used i saw Ca deficiency, brown spot and culing up on leaf, on 1-finger leaf in one of my seedlings. After that i checked Nebula's chart. She had recommended 1 tsp=5millit for calmagic when usiny RO Or! Coco (and i use both). I followed her feedchart and brown spots stop speading immediately. 1 weeks ago i transplanted my seedling to 3 gal container. But its still curling up slightly on new leaves.

Did i recognize symptom correctly?
Is it still normal to see curling up leave after a week even when brown spot stop spreading?
Any unrecognized stress? Can it be a little stress after transplanting?

Day temp: 23-27
Night temp: 21-24
RH: 45-70
Nute/supp: Florida Trio/CaliMagic, Nebula's Chart
Water: 20PPM befor and 500-550(2 last watering) PPM after dissolving nute/supp
Water PH: 6-6.5(to control Ca deficiency)
Last Runoff: 6.3 PH,350PPM

i use the flora trio, calimag , Terpinator in veg. Also in coco perlite mix. My flora trio chart via nebula says 1/2 strength so I do that. My ph after mix is 6.0-6.1...runoff is about 5.7
i bet people say don't worry about 1st leaf..and I have that occasional curl too so will be interested in hearing what folks reply.
dont loose heart..not a person on the forum has been problem free (I don't think).

Lammy, your plants look nice and healthy. You lower leaves are going to die off. Sometimes right away sometime it takes longer. Keep doing what you're doing.

My 3rd node leaves; 5-finger leaves- are curling up slightly either. I need em to initiate Nebula's manifolding training.
What is that brown spot? Ca deficiency?

How close is your light?
When my light is a little close the edges of leaves curl a bit till I raise light a bit

Overall I think your plants look great! I'm not sure if it was Calcium exactly causing those symptoms, but if you're missing enough Cal or Mag it's common to see strange deficiencies. If you're in coco with RO water, and adding Cal-Mag fixed the problem, it definitely could have been the cause The new growth looks really good!

Ow... you may right. Just read http://www.growweedeasy.com/cannabis-light-burn again. It says leaves curling up can be a sign of light burn. But i haven't any discolored leaves on top! Also leaves tips and edges seem completely normal to me. Ok, Ill try to get light 2 inches further away if it wasn't faded away.


Can you please tell me what was that brown spot?

That spot is on an original single finger leaf. It's normal for them to die off.

I had the same thing happen at the start of my last grow on 3 of 6 plants. I used coco and perlite too. I don't need to use RO water, just let it sit in 5 gallon buckets for 24hrs. My issue was that I was watering with Cal-Mag at 6.0 PH....but the runoff was 7.8 PH with no nutrients added_ what the heck? What I think happened was that I didn't wash out the coco/perlite mix well enough before using it_so I washed it again and transplanted and then continued to use water at PH 6.0. Everything stabilized and good from there on. Your second plant picture looks good to me. My last grow resulted in a nice harvest, about 12 oz for a 3x4 foot grow area. But one thing I think I could have done better was to add a bit more nutrients after the 3rd week, since the only nutrients your plants get are the ones you supply them with (in coco and perlite). I might have been a bit too careful this time but I had some nutrient burn issues last time so wanted to be more careful. This next grow should be awesome_ I'm going to use the same medium and adjust the nutrients a bit _and wash the heck out of the coco before I mix it to remove any mineral or salt contaminants!

Those 2 pics weren't 2 plants, just 1 plant but 2 different views.

I had downloaded GH's feedchart 2 monthes ago when Nebula's feedchart link on her site was broken and when i was learning basics. 3 weeks ago when i germinated my seeds i recalled Nebula's advice to start at half dose. So i decided to start at 0.6 dose because i was able to calculate and measure volume more easily by 0.6 scale not 0.5. The feedchart i had was starting at 0 milliliter for the 1st week and 1.5 for second. I started with 2 milliliters Calimagic. I should have remembered the RO water im using has almost no Ca and Mg. After i saw symptom, i checked Nebula's chart (and application table at the back of buttle this morning) i realized the Problem with those symptoms, Ca deficiency.

I measured my coco salt level by Mixing 1:1.5 coco/water and measuring PPM. After mixing The PPM was raised more than 1000 PPM. So i had to wash it. Because it was my 1st grow i tried my best and washed my coco using 20PPM hot water and Finally after useing water 4-5 times of my coco mass the 1:1.5 mix dropped below 50(lower than half of my 1st week nutriented water). I also washed my perlite with boiling water once. Im still not sure i washed my coco well but it was all i could do.

Hi again.

what's wrong with them? My grow room was 29 degree for a day. I had some leave curling in lower leaves and you told me its normal and lower leaves fall off by their own. But today i see top leaves is curling up too. 29 degrees hot is still in the temp range so why should i see top leaves are curling? 29 has been too hot for my plants or i have some problems should be fixed? I also think brown spots are spreading slightly after 3 days i asded more Ca-Mg.

Any advice please?

From the pictures it looks like they've gotten a lot bigger, which is a good sign It's possible this plant is sensitive to heat, because even though 29°C is a little bit under the top limit, it's still is pretty hot. Overall they look good though! I'd say they need a little more time before they're ready to start manifolding, but getting close!

Hi again.

I'm done with manifolding. now i have some questions to ask. after the first topping plant will split into 2 main stems and 2 sides. We top once again on each side after 3rd node and remove 2nd node growths. leaves always looking for light. If i bent them down they will return to the light again. As i saw couple days ago, 2nd leaves of each side grow faster than 1st node growth tip and block 1st node growth top from getting light. They block 1st node growth before my plant ready to 2nd topping. I was thinking growth tips will be my colas so it should be good idea to remove 2nd node leaves as soon as they start blocking 1st node growth. Right or wrong? tell me your idea please.

You definitely want to make sure your main growth tips get direct light or they'll stop growing as much! You can remove or tuck the offending leaves, whichever you're more comfortable with

You should remove all the leaves and stems below the point where the main stems turn upward,, unless you want the lower stems to become main stems.
