Kief Pucks

I bet it's different from place to place, but this is how I've heard those words used in San Diego.

When I've heard the word "kief", I've heard it to refer to what's basically loose trichomes. For example, if you have a grinder with screen, or use a screen or bubble bag 9n fresh bud or trim, the stuff that falls through is the trichomes (glitter on the bud). I heard of all those trichomes, which have sort of a powder-like consistency, referred to as kief. It's basically a pile of raw trichomes.

As far as "hash", I've heard that to refer to the result of pressing or applying pressure/heat/processing until kief/trichomes sort of becomes a different substance. For some reason it has slightly different effects if you smoke it when it's been processed as opposed to "raw". Some people roll kief between their fingers. "Scissor hash" is the trichomes and gooey stuff that collects on your scissors when you trim buds. It gets sort of dark and if you smoke it you get a different feeling than bud. You can also collect hash through a screen or making dry ice hash, then pressing the resulting kief into hash. It needs heat or pressure.

There's lots of ways to make hash, and it seems to be sort of an umbrella term for when the "good stuff" in cannabis has been processed in some way so it's no longer a loose powder like kief.

Anyways, I'm definitely not an authority, and I imagine it's different depending on where you live and but that's how I've heard those terms used :)

Thanks Nebula. The yellow isn't showing too well in pics but it is yellow:)
Still wonder why Sirius didn't pour sweat shaking for the initial 5 mins LOL.
I did my cardio/Pilates worth shaking...time better spent I must say :)

Haha, Sirius is strong but I also feel the burn! I'll usually have sore arms the next day :) We need to invent an automatic agitator! Something like the Magic Butter Machine but for dry ice hash. You just put the dry ice and cannabis in, and it makes the hash for you! We need a Magic Hash Machine :)

how about a paint shaker like when you buy paint in gallon cans I know they have different sizes .I saw one that did 4 gallon cans at once and it did 5 gallon buckets that would shake the keiv out of it lol. I just checked out the press tika thanks think I will order one

good morning! thank you tika for getting this thread going!
T press: never used one, but the reviews say from worst to best... aluminum...brass...stainless. i got brass.

Storage: been watching shit tons of tutorials. seems that hash doesnt store like flowers. sealing it up can be bad for anything more than a few weeks. saw one guy just covers the jar with panty hose, stores it cool, dry, and dark but exposed to air.
if you need to keep it longer, how bout throwing in a silica gel packet in before sealing?

I opened a vac seal puck yesterday. Was sealed since early November. It is better than when I sealed it, still fresh and sticky.

maybe some folks had a bad experience and now they overkill prevention? see a LOT of that online, lol.
6 months desertdan? how did you store it after vac sealing? and how did it become better?

I saw the stocking video too..thought s..t I'm not going to go buy stockings! (Am I?)
No mention of titanium pollen press?

I keep the seal packages in a jar in a back closet. I should say it seems better. hard to tell after six months. It seems to smoke smoother better taste. Like curing I suppose.

Be careful that you don't have a fan or strong AC vent nearby. I was making some and I had AC vent behind me. The room I work in has polished red concrete floors. When I left the room and came back there were foot prints were the vent had blown the kief onto the floor. I swept up a few grams but full of dog hair and dirt. Stupid.
