I tried posting this earlier and got thumped-probably because I attached a YouTube instruction -my bad. anyway-I am testing this process with some green dry ice kief -a little tedious but thinking of doing it with the trim from my current harvest-ideally will be blonder. Has anyone done this..? thoughts? there is a YouTube on it but I cant seem to post it.

Yes, I have it works great. I put them in vac seal to keep fresh. I have some that have been sealed for months and they seem to cure well for a better smoke.

Great! Thank you so much! Didn't think of vac seal but will do. Did you make them from dry ice kief? Or grinder?

I make it from dry. I make 2 ways first I use a fine steel screen to trim over. What falls through the screen is usually a little more red. I use mostly small airy buds and a little trim. I only use the finest mesh bag.When only buds are used it comes out wonderfully strong. Don't press it too hard or you will smash trichs and it will not last as long in storage. With vac seal six months later and it is as fresh as the day I made it, only taste better and smoother smoke.
 
I suggest to buy stainless press. I cheaped out at first and got an aluminum press. It lasted about 3 presses. The stainless is great, but expensive.
 
desertdan, Do You have to bake it in the oven? I saw a video that had the hash pressed in foil and baked, taking it out and pressing it some more several times to make a block.
Also, I'm slightly confused (I know, not a hard thing to do! LOL), but when people refer to 'kief', are they meaning the left-over plant matter (leaf and or bub) after hash extraction, or the hash its self? I have heard it (kief) referred to both ways?

No need to bake this. Some call it kief some call it hash.First time I encountered it was in 1970. It was called Lebanese hash. There was red and blonde. I have made both. Have not seen any til now and I believe I make as good. If one uses only high end bud and very fine screen it is possible to get trichomes only and this can be smoked as is or heated and pressed for oil/resin. The trichome only product I would call hash and mixed with other plant matter I would call kief.
 
Since one will chip/ cut the puck to smoke i.e. Pipe-heating- firing the kief is natural decarb. As with the bud. No need to decarb in advance.smoke it.
 
Tomorrow I am going to grind pretty fine OG kush and do Sirius dry ice kief ( good god I hate the shake- Sirius doesn't sweat in video- I sweat and won't video :)) then make more pucks. Will photo and post. Since I will be using 2 finest meshes it should be blond...better be blond.

when you edit your signature either just copy and paste the web address/URL into the signature box or click the advanced editor button on the right of the edit signature box and click the link/paperclip looking thing and then copy the address in there.
