Thanks Everyone - Been reading up and this has happened plenty - some folks think its not a big deal as long as it didn't go on too long, some say if it shows any signs of reveg, harvest immediately since the outcome won't be good... - My plants are good and healthy, so hopefully they'll just sail through the experience unscathed. I'll post pictures later (after they wake up

This is a sticky topic.

I am new to Cannabis so this will likely be an easy one for most of you to answer. What is the best cannabis school to go to? I want something online if possible, or at least in SoCal If not online. Can anyone tell me if they have any good experience with Michigan State, Fremont College, or UCLA?Last edited by BoxPetal; 07-05-2018, 11:18 AM.

That's not what Nebula says on this page: https://www.growweedeasy.com/how-to-...t-stays-potent
Scroll down to where she talks about freezing bud after 4 weeks cure and they will stay potent indefinitely.

Hello everyone. I'm. Beginner I don't wanna say complete newbbut I could learn some stuff.
I have a 4 month old unknown strain girl that I think is doing decent she just started flowering. She was inside and slowly transitioned to outside until she was permanently put outside.
she's doing good I would say my only question is about pruning trimming thinning out whatever you want to call it. She's rather leafy and I know that affects light absorption.
what should I do as far as trimming or pruning? I am attaching pica of entire plant the top 2 colas and the flowering spots so you can see how far along she is. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Hello GeorgiaGrower. She looks healthy, but I wouldn’t prune/defoil her. Doesn’t have enough leaves to block out much light. That’s just my opinion, hope it helps

Hey guys! Hassinator here posting from the great state of Alaska. I have browsed forums for the last couple years but have never joined up until now and I’m pretty excited. I have a few grows under my belt using t5ho lamps for both veg and flower and have had pretty good results. I am currently growing a strain called Ak Gorilla. It’s a cross of Gorilla Glue #4&Ak Blackberry. I am growing her in a box I made.... Yup a pot box. She’s just starting week three in flower and if I can figure out how to do it,I’m gonna start a grow journal with pics on this site. Anyway, I do have a question. I’m a defoliator (I can hear some groans) and I have done it very successfully...... and also very unsuccessfully. I usually do a final selective defoliation at the end of week three of flower. So,how much is too much to take then and what should I absolutely not take. I don’t want to take the wrong fan leaves at this point. I have taken the wrong ones before at this stage in the game and it made me sad. I’ve also nailed it here and got crazy yields back for my efforts. I’m just not sure what I did differently. Oh yeah, it was the same strain both times. Thanks guys! Happy growing.

Welcome, Hassinator!! You'll find a lot of differing styles of defoling on this site; check out PaganRich he defoliates like mad dogs and Englishmen!!!
On GWE, there's great information:
Controversial defoliation can increase your yields dramatically indoors... but removing leaves is for advanced growers only! When done wrong, defoliation can kill your plants!

Hassinator I do like a robust defol. Not new for me either, been doing this a couple of years now and it works for me and my particular setup but this isn`t for everyone like Scrog isn`t for me. This lass was manifolded, topped, supercropped and structured. Here she`s been flipped and had her first defoliation and lollypopped as welll. This is like 24hrs after and she looks fine. So, I`m a born defoliator at heart mate.Take care...1 Photo

PaganRich. I was hoping you’d put your spin on my thread about defoliation or not. I have defoliate all my three gals at least 3 times now and the result for me is thicker heavier leaf mass lots of small colas or future colas, I liked the idea of defoliation but after more research and seeing the results with my current training regime after three months of veg. Can see no value, and am preparing them for flower so I hope to hear from you on any comparisons that we can show

NAKEDGARDENER Happy to mate. Which thread of yours are you talking about?

PaganRich the thread is titled to defoliate or not defoliate

PaganRich Robust defol indeed. That's just getting nasty with it bro and I dig it. I've never had the stones to go that far with it at the flip. I definitely peel her down though. I'm coming up on the end of week three flower and will do another selective defoliation soon. I'm just not sure how far to go with it. I'll try to post some pics of what I've got going on right now. Feel free to give me some tips when I do. I'm gonna go check out some of your posts and try to glean some wisdom. Peace.

So I am in the middle of my first grow since the late 70's. My how things have changed. So I got a handful of seeds from my son. Of course I have no idea what strain they are. Is their anyway to identify the strains? I am growng outdoors and they have already begun flowering, which I thought was a little early.

Welcome back to the happy land Lidsville. Can you take some pics of your plants, and how long have they been outside. I know you will get great help here. GL

Hassinator Hi mate, the way I defol is a lot harder than others and isn`t for everyone. However, these 2 pics are the Chemdog Millionaire. She was robustly defoliated, flipped and the time between the 2 pics around 96hrs or 4 days roughly. So, all this growth is on top of her adjusting to 12/12. I think that you can get away with this based on strain, airflow, light distance and microbes in the soil. She hasn`t halted or stopped growing yet you listen to the detractors and she should be in shock and not doing anything. That`s clearly not happening here.2 Photos

Toripony To be honest I think you have a nice approach going there. Not lollypopping is an option but those small bits of bud at the bottom take more time to trim and do take away some growing goodness from further up however can still boost out your yield. It`s a personal thing. What you`re doing sounds great. You`re experimenting and trying to find your own happy medium. Rolling grows yielding 2-3 ounces say once every 2.5-3 weeks would keep me happy. Have you thought about perpetual harvesting?
-
Thanks, PaganRich! For now I'm keeping it small, concentrating on just 4 plants probably in my next grow. Just having fun and gaining some confidence. I didn't trim that larfy stuff. The 8 oz of hard top bud is more than we can smoke in a year. Am giving some away to those in need. I plucked the last few leaves from those lower limbs before harvest and dried the larf in a paper bag; it's all going to cooking/hashing so saved some labor there. I was afraid I had made a mistake keeping those branches but then couldn't believe it amounted to 4.5 oz. It's making killer good hash/kief and decarb! There's an oz of sparkly sugar leaf trim I haven't even sampled yet. Wow, that white widow makes a lot of trichomes.

NAKEDGARDENER Yeah, lot of nice folk here. oldjarhead100 is a keen defoliator too and has great insights as has D.A.A.S.69 . For me defoliating is a tool but just one among quite a few. For some strains it won`t work well, for others no issues but there are really only 2 sides on this one. Fore and against and little wiggle room in between. You either fit it in with your other techs or not but it`s not for everyone. Personally, you will use it only if you see it working for you and with the yield numbers above for non-defoliating I woundn`t see the necessity. However, If you think you could use this tech to eventually equal or surpass this, then I`d think about doing it. Whatever you do, if it involves defoliation you will have your detractors. Also, a lot has changed in 20 yrs. Old school isn`t always right in the modern world. As an example, 5 days post evil defol and there`s nought wrong with this lass but detractors would say I had stopped growth and potentially stunted her. Tad difficult as I had to increase height of light due to steady growth. There`s a lot of folk that would rather pee in the wind than admit they may have to adapt their viewpoint1 Photo
