HELP! Issues with HEIGHT of GROW LIGHT - light stress and deficiency

    Dear grower community,

Ive been struggling some time with optimum height adjustment during all the life cycle of plants. So Ive been doing a DIY project trying to understand more the problems and solve these troubles. Would anybody be interested in similar solution or its only my trouble with the light? :-)
I’m trying to better understand how other indoor growers actually handle light distance and plant height in real setups. This way I want to understand more others - how you do the things with light, how you decide, if its time to heighten the light, how do you solve uneven height of plants or whole canopy? Do you use PAR?
So I’m working on a personal hardware concept related to possible future optimization of indoor growing (mainly canopy height and light distance management). I am doing prototypes and I want to understand how people actually handle this in real setups instead of guessing. Each setup is very individual.
If you grow indoors with LEDs and have 1 minute, I’d really appreciate your input.

Please share your experiences (maybe you had historically only in the first few cycles) with light adjustments to the growth of the plant through veg and bloom phase and if you ever had some troubles?

Thanks for helping improve practical grow tools.
1 minute survey: https://forms.gle/JWNmyFqLxE9QjTH58 (its a regular Google form survey link)
This is no ad or promo of any thing. I am new here so I hope the question is ok yor you all.
If you would be interested in anything mentioned just reply here!
Thanks a lot and keep it growing :-)

On the off chance you’re not a Bot or AI of some sort read thi link.
they’re is a tonne of info out there on this topic, maybe just put some effort in seeking it out for yourself
by Nebula Haze This cannabis height control tutorial will teach you how to use bending and training techniques made specifically for cannabis plants (such as LST / low-stress training, supercropping, topping, FIMing, ScrOG, or using a screen or netting, etc.). Best when combined with a short autoflowering strain like Blue Dream Autoflower or Wedding Cake...
KIS mix organic living soil from Black Sallow soils in 7gal. pots
Black Swallow Organic Bloom mix top dress before flower.
Reusing soil with Black Swallow nutrient pack between grows
    Maybe some compost teas

Microbial Mass and other microbial boosters(Wallace)

Ooops, does it sound like AI?? I know oc the web page you mentioned with all those practival infos, but I think not everybody is reaching there or to good sources? But maybe I am asking in too specialized growers forum and nobodys getting trouble with light adjustment anymore here? Remember when you began? I do Do you think newcomers would appreciate more guidance?

The manufacturers guide is just that, a guide. The plants will tell you when the light is too intense, but you have to pay attention. Daily checks will help, maybe every other day, but def not weekly or sporadically. The seed suppliers grow guide is just that, a guide. Depending on how many crosses, you might end up with more than one phenotype from the same seeds. That can produce uneven canopies, so can a lot of other factors. I use a PAR meter regularly and try to meet the PAR recommendations for each stage of growth. I try to max out the light without burning the plant while maintaining the right distance. I use a DIY measuring stick to determine light distance. I also use the dimmer. Some don't. I don't like the ratchet adjusters but that seems to be the standard. I top every plant and have taken up manifolding and adjust flower light schedules to control plant stretch.

"The .gle extension is a brand-specific top-level domain (TLD) owned and operated by Google (via Charleston Road Registry Inc.). Delegated in 2014, it is used exclusively for Google's own services, products, and marketing, often acting as short, branded URLs. It is not available for public registration."

So, why is the Charleston Road Registry Inc. doing this?
      Anyone click the link?

Knowing that about the URL it makes sense. It felt like an AI survey.

Its a function of Google forms - they let you make the link shorter. Ever heard of shortening URL? Here is the long version if you need it? https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...21814379327385

Nope. Don't need it. Thanks. I'm starting to get a hang of these computer things. Even just got a cell phone to augment my landline. Did you know you can take pictures with telephones? Once I figure where the film goes in, I'll be taking all sorts of snaps!

Hello boys, I am really not AI :-)
Why would an AI research on a forum like this about height of light in indoor growing setup???

      Thats some level of paranoia...
The survey is just a regular Google forms survey with few questions.

Is it really paranoia when they really are after you? AI is researching every web site in the world. Chat GPT is soliciting interactions so that it can grow. So is Gemini and Copilot. They both want unfettered access to everything on your computer. Maybe they are not but it makes sense to me that AI would be on a site like this one. The information here is a lot of word of mouth and shared experiences. How people work their equipment cannot be found in product literature. Just my .02 .

Well yes, that makes sense all you are writing, actually thats the reason I am part of the local grower community but with this post I just wanted to hear some more voices from around, thats it. I dont know too much about AI, will research it more, thanks.

I'm interested in your research. I'd like to see some improvements in how grow lights are raised and lowered in a tent. Maybe a sensor system that raises the light automatically as the plant grows tall. I've tried an electric hoist but it took up too much space at the top of the tent. And BTW, welcome aboard.

When a first-time poster posts a link with an unrecognized file extension, don't call it paranoid, call it suspicious. We are quick to weed out suspicion and sometimes have a great deal of fun at the poster's expense.
And when someone swears it's not a promo or some such... yeaaahhh... that's a not-the-droid-you're-looking-for sort of comment.
You may well be a 98.6° sack of meat, but your approach was suspicious.

I'll take your word that you are a carbon based sentient specimen. Something like that might be useful for brand new growers but in my opinion reading plants for light stress/ deprivation is one of the easiest things to read. I used to raise and lower lights constantly but now I just hang the light as high as it will go and adjust the intensity according to the plants needs. It helps to have a light a little over powered for your tent to use this method but it's definitely more convenient.

I call myself a sensitive phenotype, not a sentient specimen.
