HELP- first hydro build and grow

I'm going to throw this in. The article specifically says rockwool is not recommended. I have no experience, just something to share.

Mmm could be onto something there, I never tried DWC with Rockwool just the coco pellets.

Hmmm, that was an interesting read,the mixture is touching the bottom of the basket, maybe I should change the water and keep it just below the bottom of the basket

Yea you might be onto it, don't want the mixture touching the bottom, I'd say 2-3 inches gap to start with.

Yea it does seem like a bit but remember that the bubbles from the air stone pop and the moisture gets on the bottom of the basket, that moisture alone is enough to keep a young seedling going, Ive read about a guy who does DWC with no air stone claiming the gap between the water level and basket provides the roots with sufficient oxygen... But yea I'm ok with being wrong 😜

As long as the roots are getting a continuous supply of oxygenated nute juice, it doesn't matter if they are in the juice or being bubbled by it.
Figure you're starting in aeroponics and growing into hydroponics.

It's called the kratky method what I was referring too. There's heaps of different stuff about it on google... I don't think I would recommend it but it's worth a read.

I took a little of the mixture out of the bucket, now the surface is about a half inch from the bottom of the net pot

If you are not getting roots yet you likely have light getting in.

I just checked in on the plant, there's a single white root coming out of the bottom of the net pot, now I think I can relax a bit

She's doing well, and I can see that she is starting to grow another set of leaves, should I change the water and start her on early veg nutes??

Roughly 2 weeks... I'd be starting it on nutes for sure specially cal-mag and microbes and little bit of nitrogen. Water holds very little nutrition specially compared to soil......

Speaking as a soilless (coco) grower, if you haven't, get your nutes going. Half what you are going to wind up giving them. That is, if you wind up giving full nutes, give half one time.
Your roots might have been disinterested in plain water.
