I’m about 20K north of Lake Ontario/Cobourg, and I’ve had 6 plants outside for about 2 weeks now. Regular photos. Apple Fritters, Gorilla Glue4, and Kush n Cookies. So far they’re great. If you’re concerned about frost, cover your plants with row cover material at night. It’s light, it’s cheap, and it will buy you the equivalent of about 3 or 4 degrees. Good luck.i

*whistles* y'all really up there. I can't imagine the craziness work outdoor growing up there with short seasons. If Yellowstone can get snows in July.... Y'all can have a frost mid summer

That is a real bummer. Did they freeze? You must be way north.

I was in a cold spell, once. Then she divorced me.

They say Ottawa is one of the most coldest capital in world. Lucky it wasn't Ulaan-Baatar hey ? No wonder I grow inside !!

Let say they are no Key lime pie in the wife's garden !! Maybe i should move there in the sunshine state . But I don't want to be a immigrant felon from Canada since it's not yet legal . Imagine me being caught growing some sweet herbs close to the Everglades eh !! Would my American neighbours deported me back to the Great White North ?

Everglades? You mean Florida? We only kick Cubans out of Florida.
Americans are pretty chill about you Canadian types. We have not gone to war with Canada, yet. Give us a minute. We like your trees.
Felony shmelony. Look at our politicians. If you come to the US, just win a public office and all will be forgiven. Hell, you can probably forgive yourself!

I do Indica's on Lat. 32°. You are up in frozen Frenadia trying to grow Sativa outdoors. Doesn't Sativa prefer warm weather?

        #22
Well young Ginger you know Ottawa is one of the coldest capital in the world and our summers are short. Never grew outside until now, i guess I'm still learning even at the age of 71 loll. I know Indica do better than Sativa here so why this time I choose Mazar which it's mostly Indica compare to GSC which is about 60% Indica. But to be on the safe side I'm letting the little Mazar in the grow room until she is strong enough to be outside.

          Hey there Farmbuck!
Sorry for your loss dude … I can relate.
I live in Russell, a half hour from you. Every year I swear off outdoor growing, and every year I try again. Between the cold, the heat, the 100% humidity , the monsoons and the bugs, it’s a challenge here for sure.
A couple of pics of this year’s attempt. Thought I bought Northern Lights autos but not sure what I got since no flowers after two months. Got too big for the tent and got tired of hauling it around, so transplanted from a 3 gallon fabric pot to a half barrel on 31 May. She was in Promix HP and went into a mix of garden soil and HP.
Had a N deficiency early after transplant so I’m treating the dirt as a soilless media and giving the GH trio with Calmag and Ancient Earth
so she started to flower about a week after transplant (transplant shock?), and she’s seen temps in the low 40’s and low 90’s, several days of rain, and now the Japanese beetles. But (wait for it) she aintdedyet, she’s pretty much I think finished her stretch, and buds are beginning to fatten
I’ve done 3 defoliation sessions … giant fan leaves, anything with a stem longer than 3 cm, then anything longer than 2 cm. I’m hoping that these efforts together with my training will help mitigate WPM and bud rot.
Yes, that’s a horseshoe pit she’s next to. Anyone hits the plant gets escorted off the property … lol.
Keep the faith Farmbuck … we can grow here in the capital of the Great White North, and be proud of it!

Ya it’s tough up here outside, hang in there looking good. I guess that must be a slow auto, cause it’s way early for any photo to flower up here , we’re barely past the longest day. I’m hoping to start flower end of august in Muskoka, thats when the days are about 13 hours of sun most won’t flower with more light than that

I'm giving her a few more days before moving her outside.

Still inside due to heavy rain but I still say she is not sick. A bit of a cold maybe but not the flue.

Soooooo I decided to keep her inside during the wet summer we had here in the great white north. A few more weeks and she's done. She had a rough start but she manage to stay alive. At least she is giving me some decent buds, not the biggest but decent...
