Something that I’ve never seen anybody suggest is, i don’t know what to call it, but, “in between” trim. Hang everything to dry for only a couple of days...then trim...then continue drying. Maybe there is a happy spot in drying process that can found.
There are 3 things you must check everyday when growing in hydro:
      1) Water level (How much h2o is she drinking in 24hrs)
      2) pH level (change over 24hrs)
      3) ppm/EC level (How much food is she eating in 24hrs)

Makes it more difficult IMO. I don't really know if there would be a good in between. I guess if anyone finds a good middle ground, let us know?

Wet trim, and most of it while still in the pot lol(much easier on my back) I set it on the floor and pull up a chair, larfy stuff first, larger sugar leaves with little trichs next, then get new tinfoil trays for the good stuff. Eventually i have to cut the branch but most of the work is done. dont even like to think about trimming...

Is larfy the large fan leaves? If those have been removed a little at a time over weeks. I have none left now.
Are sugar leaves the smaller ones covered in trichs that stick straight out?
What is the good stuff? Once all the leaves are cut off what’s left to trim?

I’m starting to harvest some branches this weekend.

Yes and yes..i usually have a few big leaves with little to no trichs on them. Then the sugar leaves, sticking straight out, but have some trichs on them(this goes into trim bag for bubble hash or butter) The next trim is tight and to shape the final bud. The close trimming is the good stuff. When you need to scrape the goop off your clipper blades. i turn that into bubble hash. happy trimming

quirk I like the idea of doing it with the plant in the pot.
Do you use the cut off material for anything else? Hash (dry ice per GWE), dry out and vape or smoke, edibles, butter, etc.?

        It’s Friday!

        29 to 4

Looks like I’m going with wet trim. This ought to be fun, or sticky.

Good luck trimming. By the look of them buds it's going to be fun & sticky for sure...Like 'dem buds are...fat & sticky!! Delicious. Great work, wow! Scrape the sticky off of the trimming scissors every once in a while...it smokes like hash Good way to get a bit of an early sample. Btw, thanks for running the poll. I thought it'd be a lot closer.

MrPNW I've never saved any trimmed off material because I try not to remove anything with trichomes.
No photogenic manicure, I rough trim, dry in the pot, then jar.

I think I trim just a tiny bit closer than you, haven't had any complaints. But then again they get the shit free they better not complain lol all funny aside I don't sell my weed so why cut off good stuff doesn't make sense to me.
Nice plant and photo ready buds

Being my first time that’s kind of what I’m leaning towards. The only reason I keep hearing people trimming close is to make it LOOK top shelf. This is for me, outside my wife no one but my grown son even knows I grow and he’s trustworthy to keep it quiet. If I have someone over to try it, they won’t ever know where it came from. LOL
Less work and still a fine product.

Do the green glass jars block uv like the Ball amber jars do?

I’ve not seen the safety car seat for buds before or is that a child’s toilet seat to prevent any important stuff from slipping away? LOL. Love it.

Thanks JeffInCanada. I just keep the temp gun handy to monitor room, foliage and soil temps. I'm with you MeEasy, never understood the tight manicure.

Of all the sensi buds I bought in the 70s I can’t remember anyone talking about who’s had the tighter trim. LOL

It’s kind of funny the single person to vote “I do not trim” thus far has your handle. I truly hope this doesn’t offend.

I hang the whole plant until dry then trim with a bowl trimmer. Any "lost" trichomes wind up in the bottom of the bowl with the trim which goes into making hash anyway! I think slow-drying makes for better smoke.

I like to do larger leaf removal a day or two prior to harvest. Then i cut the branches sit at the counter a trim away, i really am enjoying that time. I don't do trims really close like dispensary weed. I too like leaving alittle suger leaf. Just did a GG#4

All my sugar leaves go bye-bye. I found that if i left them in place, the weed seemed harsher on my throat and on the verge of inducing a cough. “You don’t get off...until ya cough” might have been a thing we laughed about in high school, but now i know that weed can be clean enough not to induce coughing. 😂

YYCannabis the really tight intertwined sugar leaf that i would have to dig into the bud with a scissor is what i mean. If i can clip a stem leaf then heck yes i remove it but i dont go deep into the bud. Thats what i mean.

I think I ended up doing the same as you on my first trim. I snipped fan leaves off as they grew 2 weeks into flower to the end. What I had left where very tiny fan leaves which went into a “cannabutter” jar and the very, very tiny leave’ tips that look like tongues only got snipped if they were in the area I was removing fan leaves in final trim. Most of those just dried and tucked back into the bud.

This is a loose leaf bud but was covered with frosty close very tiny suger leaf. Yes i do save that trim but i do not use a machine and i do a closer trim with harder buds but it does not look like machine rock buds.
