3 years of growing - numbers, pics, and charts!

Hey everyone! I'm just over 3 years of growing, and like last year I wanted to share my stats! I would like to keep doing this as a record for myself, but also for anyone that may be wondering what is possible in that amount of time.

I have learned a ton since I started, and almost all the info I have learned came right from this handy dandy site! From other members, to the articles they have, you just can't beat the friendliness and amount of information IMO.

I feel like i said it pretty well in my 2 year growversary, so I won't repeat it, but you can catch what I've learned so far here if you like.

The biggest takeaway so far is the cost and quantity. Im a heavy smoker, and i never would have been able to enjoy as much as I do had i not started growing. I simply wouldn't have the funds. I came really close to completely running out this year for about a week. Luckily, I dont smoke my dry ice hash almost ever, so I had a bunch of that to fall back on (I prefer the traditional bud n bowl method myself lol).

Anyway, enough rambling, let's get to the numbers!

TOTAL WEIGHT FOR 3 YEARS (and 1 month lol)

    164 OZ, OR 9.6LBS

    Back to rambling lol

Last year, I was at 90 oz, or 5.6lbs. Also, last years total included the monster in grow 6 that gave me 24 oz off of one auto. I harvested 58 oz in my 2nd year growing including that monster plant. This year I managed 64 oz. I was surprised when I did the math and found out that I harvested more this year than last, seeing as I got a pound and a half off one plant. But this year I grew a few plants that were on the heavier side (10 oz+), so I guess that made a difference. The heavier plants have had pretty solid genetics, so that is definitely a key to growing.

Here's some pics of my grows throughout my entire growing career. And I promised charts in the title, so I will not fail to deliver!

SiriusFourside NebulaHaze - I know my thank yous are probably sounding redundant at this point, but seriously, thank you two so much for creating this website. Without it, I may have been going to find a dude with a baggie today..

    A couple side notes:

I forgot that we had the solo cup grow off this year, and forgot to factor that number in. I got 26g off it, so we could just round up to 65oz total instead of 64 lol.

I will be posting each grow in its own post below so I can get as many pics as I want, and not just the 10 it will allow on one post lol.

To see the full journal, just click on the "grow x" at the top of the post.

Man, did I have a lot to learn! Started in hydro, which, if alltatup remembers, did not go smoothly for me lol. Kept getting root rot, so I switched to coco. Transplanted a few plants from hydro to coco successfully, so if anyone has wondered about this, it can be done.

It was a great learning experience. I also made the switch from my cheap blurple light to cobs, which I've never given a thought about another light since.

This was my first successful(?) harvest. Jock horror, 3.5g. Taken way too early, and stunted way too much 🤣

What a treat it was to grow purple plants! I had never seen that much purple in real life, so to grow it was an amazing experience. Red Poison, one never forgets his first purple strain lol.

@mcubed I sure do remember your adventures with root rot!! They came shortly after mine. I was just writing this morning about wanting to try soil or even better, coco...

My growing skills improved slightly. Starting out in coco from the rip was a good move for me lol. Trainwreck and red poison again, and I learned about mainlining an auto.

      GROW 3

Learned a little more, got tired of using a shop vac, so I decided to build myself a table with gutters on it to catch the run off. A great idea until I started growing bigger plants lol.

Also, the first grow that I had an auto not go into flower on its own. This was frustrating, and all of the following autos ive had that didnt go into flower since then have been equally frustrating. Its only been 3 or 4 total, but it sucks when it happens.

I'm aware I could have flipped the lights, but I didnt want to deprive the other autos that did their job lol. So to date, I have not successfully completed an auto that didnt flower by itself.

This grow was also the start of my bigger plants. The Blue Dream got 5oz, and I was very happy with it!

This grow also showed me that the branches can certainly break! The Bloody Skunk I grew lost one of the main branches due to too much pressure training it.

Last note about this grow. I messed my thumb up...hard. slammed it in a car door. I forgot about until I went back through this journal and saw it. Owies. Its all healed up and normal now lol.

Funny story about my thumbs and March. This happened on St Patty's day (March 17th). A few years before this, on March 15th, I was working at a steakhouse. I had made mention that it was the Ides of March that day, and none of my coworkers knew what the hell I was talking about lol.

Later on, I'm juicing a lime with a big French chef knife (because I'm an idiot), and I turn my head to talk to a coworker and sliced my other thumb right below the pad. I got 9 stitches.

I told myself after the St Patty's day incident that I'm just going to lock myself up during the month of March and not do anything.

Kind of comical seeing as how this year played out 😂

      GROW 4

This was the grow where I was starting to get into my groove. Found my favorite strain on this grow (Bubba Kush), and also grew another favorite (Amnesia Haze XXL).

Also ran into New problems this grow. Had my first case of fungus gnats from overwatering (I decided to start watering twice a day with this grow. Would not recommend 🤣). After those were taken care of, the plant that had them the worst sprouted nanners. Luckily, I was able to get her out of the tent before she did any damage to the rest of the plants.

Ran into old problems also. Grew a Diesel auto that did not auto. That's 2 so far if you're keeping count lol.

        GROW 5

This grow was my breakthrough for what I currently do today, quadlining. I was mainlining autos up until this point, and when I went to start training, I thought why not leave one more node? So I did on one plant, and it paid off.

I got 9oz off of Alien v Triangle because I decided to leave another node on. Thus, the quadline was born.

2 things about that last sentence:

        1. I first called it the double mainline. Quadline is much easier and smoother lol.

        2. I was not the first person to do this, although I didn't read about the other guy until after I started this technique. So when I say it was born, I'm referring to solely me lol.

If you haven't, check out Quadlining in my signature. It has everything you need to know about the method, and learn about the mysterious sexline 😂

        GROW 6

This will go down as my "legendary" grow to me, myself, and I. I decided to run 2 strains, 4 plants. I used the mainline on one of each strain, and the quadline on the others. The results were slightly skewed for a couple reasons, but they were still pretty clear.

The mainline gorilla glue auto didnt flower, and was kind of looking mutated. So it ended up getting pulled.

The results were also skewed because I believe i hit the seed lottery, and that particular seed was going to be a monster one way or the other.

The Gorilla Glue #4's that I grew were a much better comparison. The quadline almost doubled the mainline if I remember correctly.

I ended up with 24 oz off that one Gorilla Glue. I could not believe, and certainly wasn't anticipating it. Anywhere you look online you see articles that say autos just don't produce as much as photos. I believe that autos were probably a lot worse when they first came out, and have gotten far better over time.

The bottom left is the monster.

              GROW 7

This grow was a very successful grow in my opinion. Not as successful in terms of yield as the last one, but successful in other ways.

I much preferred the taste of these strains over the Gorilla Glue, and I also thought they got me higher.

This was also my first time growing a CBD plant. I actually still have some, but I wanted to grow it to see how it would help with my wifes headaches. While it didn't take them completely away, she said thats the fastest thing that she has ever taken that has quieted them down that much. Just another pro to add to the old growing weed list.

One problem that I had in this grow was that I ended up snapping a main branch off the Bubba Cheese. Instead of a quadline, I ended up with a triline lol. It was still a great yield and great smoke!

All in all, 5 star grow. Would recommend!

I'll start with the Bubba Cheese, the triline. She got super tall on me during the stretch, lankier than any plant i had grown to date at the time.

It had this one weird nug that looked like a couple nugs melded together. It was cool to see! Also, she had the most dense nugs on a plant I have grown to this day.

                  GROW 8

Just when you think you have it all figured out, reality smacks you in the face again. This grow started off pretty rocky, and ended rocky. The middle was nice though.

To start, I grabbed my normal bag of coco from the store, only to find out that it didn't have any perlite. Apparently they ordered the wrong kind that time. Not really my fault I suppose.

Then the plants at an early age had some weird leaf spots going on. More than likely, definitely my fault.

As stated, middle went pretty smoothly.

My last plant to finish was taken slightly early due to seeing what I thought was a spider mite. My first encounter with the devil.

Luckily, I grabbed some Mighty Wash and havent seen them since.

For everything that went wrong in this grow, a lot went well too. I got close to a lb off 3 plants, and had some really good smoke. I ended up snapping a branch pretty bad, but taped it and got to see it make a full recovery.

Gotta take the good with the bad!

                    GROW 9

This grow started out as a growback - a throwback to old grows where it's all strains I've grown already.

The plant in grow 3 that had nanners hermied this time. Maybe it hermied last time too, and maybe it wasn't because of the fungus gnats. It all came from the same package, so im guessing they are all like that.

So that plant got pulled, and i put 2 more in its place.

This grow was all around successful. Grew some new strains that yielded great and tasted great. Grew an old strain that knocked the pants off the previous plant i grew in terms of yield. Total yield was also very high up there.

                      GROW 10

Ah, the People's grow. I took a poll to see what people wanted me to grow. Sadly, the one with the most votes never made it, and i planted 2 different seeds of it.

So i put a Blue Cheese in its place. It was a mutant because it had 3 branches per node, but it was a great mutant to have. I got 6 main branches for the price of 4. My quadline suddenly became the elusive sexline I always knew it could be.

This grows yield wasnt phenomenal by any means, but i knew that would be the case with the 2 that I had grown previously. They just never had big yields, but i still liked smoking them.

As a bonus, this was when I participated in the solo cup challenge hosted by Mr.furley. My little solo cup got 26g. It was an awesome thing to be a part of!

This is probably one of my favorite pics I've taken. It reminds me of a snowflake. This is the sexline plant, 6 branches. Blue Cheese
