    "Light for Germination"

Does the majority agree with Light during germing?......

    #2
No, not until they sprout. We didn't have them in total darkness, just one lone bulb across the room. Low warmth, low light, light mist.

I use the light to warm the bed, don't have heating pad,it's such a short amount of time, between seed and seedling it really doesent matter do it?Keep lights on.

        Probably not.

I also, use the light for warmth and:

Your sprout needs light for the first 12 hrs after it peeks through the soil- to avoid stretching.
It's all bullshit - until you smoke it!

        Hell yes it matters...
Keep light on and as close as possible....manufactures label will work....when those babies come up they will not stretch if they have plenty of light....#guaranteed!!

Even if you gotta put one cfl on a clip to put right above the planted spot...that will work awesomely...that's probly the best way actually...that's how I do on my cfl grows....

In my tent I put my big light little closer than what should be...I fugue if they are born with it...hot and close..than they can live with it later...within reason mind you...

I have not had a plant stretch on me when sprouting since my first grow....

I have to agree with Green on this one as well. I have ruined my share of seedlings because I kept the light too high or worse, no light al all.

I made my above statement based on this info from the GWE germination tutorial. I do put under direct light as soon as they pop.

GWE germination tutorial - You can use an incandescent bulb (or two) placed over the marijuana seed germination area to help keep things warm. Incandescent bulbs are the opposite of what a grower typically wants: they can't be used as grow lights, but they're great at generating heat. Some people will also place a heating pad (the kind you get from a garden store for seedlings) underneath seeds to help aid germination.
Basically you want to make sure any seeds or sprouts are kept warm and moist at all times, that their roots are unexposed to light, and that they get planted right away.

Sorry, if I've once again put out bad information.

Insomm...if you ever stop handing out info or stop trying to help than we all would be super disappointed. Just because you've only done one grow does not mean anything....you my lady friend have done more homework on the topic of weed than most people..you are smart and your advice is textbook...soon your advice will be textbook filled with lots of experience...watch out...you will be a force to be reckoned with.....love ya

Thanks Greenie. I just felt like I had been yelled at and had to justify my post. I have a fragile soul. Maybe that's why I like to cuss, makes me seem like a bad ass (I'm as far from that as a girl can get) LOL love ya back

What they said. Vegging plants need light for photosynthesis, germinating seedlings do not have primary leaves and can't photosynthesize. They are nourished by the cotyledons, round leaves, until germinating finishes. Leaving the light on 24/7 until all your little ones pop up gives you the best chances. 100% so far for me at 12 seeds sown 12 plants harvested.
