When do you start the countdown for your bloom when it starts to make the budwitz or when you actually see buds ?

I start my countdown when I see the first hairs after changing to a 12/12 light schedule. That said, I follow the range of days that the seed’s breeder suggest. Once I reach that time, I start checking the trichomes and begin harvesting when at least 50% of the trichomes are cloudy and 50% are clear.

Doug i would say contact the seed seller and ask them how they base they’re time frame they’re giving you. That way you know exactly otherwise your going to get answers that make just leave you wondering wtf. As you can see already there are mixed answers specially from the “pros” here lol.

Here’s my 2 cents, in the end everyone counts differently including breeders so flowering times differ based on the breeder and how they count. Having said that in my experience you’re either gonna add 2 weeks in the beginning of flower or 2 weeks at the end, it’s your choice.Failure is an opportunity for improvement!!

if we (all the people) dont get this sorted out the confusion will continue. count from the switch to 12/12. anyone counting from pistils (breeders) are just trying to make false advertisement. and by the way outdoor growers (growing outside from seed) dont really count flowering days but the date the plant is ready to harvest

I totally agree!! Except that “We the People” are at the mercy of the breeders who do whatever they want. Counting from pistils isn’t ideal, but if that’s what the breeders are doing it’s counterproductive to do otherwise. As I said above we either add 2 weeks in the beginning or we add 2 weeks in the end. Which one a individual growers chooses is a personal choice but it’s all the same in the end.

Obi-Wan you are correct that what I mean it usually take about 2 weeks to see pistils so I’m the end it’s 10 weeks from light switch or 8 weeks from bud sites. But then again in the end it’s either a week more or not depending on how you want your end product each high or relaxed

Cali I totally agree, there will always be a week or 2 depending on desired effects. My point is, based on breeders flowering times there will always be a 2 week difference as to when “The Window” opens. We can either add 2 weeks at the start of flowering or we can add 2 weeks to the end of flowering. Until the breeders standardize how they count the flowering period we growers are left to guess. Adding 2 weeks to the beginning allows me more time in the end so I still have the opportunity to decide when I want to flush and when I want to harvest. If I wait until the end of flowering to add 2 weeks I may go past “My” harvest window. Ideally, the breeders will standardize so all of us growers can standardize as well, but until the i will stay on the side of caution so I can flush when I want and harvest when I want, without missing my window.Failure is an opportunity for improvement!!
