    Question on drying buds

Hey guys and girls. Got 3 plants in a 4 x 4 tent one is ready for harvest, will be cutting down tonight, other 2 should be ready in about a week or sooner. Just wondering if it would hurt to hang the one to dry in the tent above the light. The temp. stays around 79 to 80ish with humidity around 55 to 65. Thanks

If you can make a dry box that would be a much better option. You want to dry and cure in the dark. Find a big cardboard box and run a few strings threw it to hang your buds from. Just an idea

I have always read and done dry in the dark. I like the above dry in a big box with string to hang from. Other than that if you have an unused under used closet just dry in there.

All good info- you can get away with drying in light and cure in dark.
However, you should get the buds in a cooler place to dry/cure.
It's all bullshit - until you smoke it!

Agreed. Out of direct light is best. Most importantly, the temp and humidity can take 4 months of growing, and ruin it in a matter of 4 hours.

3x3 400w HID with Bruce Banner and Skywalker Kush

running all simultaneously for a perpetual harvests.

yes, even under the right humidity and temp too much air movement could make for an uneven dry

Consider this...if the room never falls above or below 62% RH... than your buds will not either. Even with uneven drying, enough time spent in the 62% RH will eventually even out in the end.
Also good to note, When my buds don’t dry evenly, I put an oz or so into a brown paper bag. (Just one per bag so the buds are not touching each other). This drawls the moisture out of the stems before they go into jars.

Howdy SKMARTIN6, all of the above ideas are great. The buds will dry out the best in the dark with a small amount of air circulation (nothing blowing directly on the buds). When the humidity is higher, I will leave some of the leafs on the plants to help the plant to dry, if the humidity is low (which is the normal here), I remove all but the 'sugar' leafs from the plants to prevent the plants from drying too fast or too much. I prefer to put the buds into the curing jars while the buds are a little springy and still soft.

Thanks guys did a little reading an found out that it wasn't a good ideal to try an dry in a tent that you have on going grow in so I'm going to do the box trick. One other question, I was thinking about cutting a hole on one side an setting a small clip on fan inside an let it blow out to get some air movement. Thanks again

just make a few holes for the air to get in and out naturally

I have done this before. It works fine with a 2x2 ft box (about 3ft tall). I would only use a 4” fan and would make a hole for it on the top of the box so the fan was blowing upwards, but sucking out the air from inside the box. I would cut small holes on bottom for intake air.
Only downside to this is you are not carbon filtering the smell out.

Put buds in plain brown paper bags with clothes pin on top holding it closed. Just don't stack a lb in one bag . Best buds I ever cured! If rh is 50% then wait 5 days 40% rh would be 4days and so on. I'll never go back to hanging buds again. Good luck

When I first started growing I had a 1foot by1foot box 3 feet long I tied string from end to end and hung my buds from those strings then slid the box on top of my light it worked fine ,until I bought a bud spinner

If you keep your dry temps between 60F and 68F with RH around 50-55, you will be rewarded with great flavor product. Takes a bit longer to dry this way though.
