Temp control issues in new tent

Hey guys i hope everyone is having a great night. So this is my second grow, first in the new tent. Im running a 400w mh with air cooled hood and 6" inline. For some reason im not getting enough air exchange into the tent, she's averaging out to around 91F. Im wondering if there's anything i can do to lower that, aside from opening the window because i don't want my heat running non stop. And also aside from running my intake through a wall because i rent my property. Any help is appreciated, thanks guys!

Jackf21792, do you vent your exhaust in to the room your tent is in? There's a lot of "stealth" methods to get it out a window. Can you isolated the temperature of the room the tent is in?

Jackf21792, truthful you need to get you hot air as far way as you can. Preferably outside, a cold air fan down low bring air into the tent( if you don't have one) will help too. For the veg stage 91f is at the top end and you should lower it but it is going to be important to get that down by the flowering stage for the best results, so that does give you a little time to MacGyver something up.

Thanks furley, ill try to figure something out with the exhaust. If it were my house id put a hole in the ceiling and vent straight into the attic. It just seems infeasible to run more than 8' to the wind to exhaust or intake. I did open the window to the room in hopes of pulling some hot air out

Does your hood have glass in it? If it does I would take it out and that will help a bunch instead of just taking air from outside the tent it will draw air out of the tent and create a vacuum

This is somthing I just went through myself.....

The fact is is that if youre going to run a MH or HPS light then you have to have a way to exhaust to the outside, otherwise warm air is simply recirculating .... Even if you have a portable air conditioner then the air conditioning unit still has to exhaust outside..

There are tricks on youtube showing you how to make a makeshift a air conditioner from Ice and a ice chest and a recirculating fan.... While that might suffice on an occasional hot day, its not realistic for a long term solution.

My solution was getting rid of the MH and going with an LED.... that did the trick. You can pick up a viparspectra 600w on amazon for less then 150.00.
I honestly believe either that or Directly venting out a window is the only 2 really workable solutions.

Thanks for the input alaska green, im going to try moving the tent tonight to in front of the window. Ill try and make an intake and exhaust port to fit into it. The only thing im worried about is the incoming air being to cold for the plants

That would be a great idea the cold air won't do much of your temp is that high. You could get an AC window kit from home Depot to vent without letting cold air in. But if it is warm in the room it will be warmer in the tent. Try opening another intake hole if possible it should be bigger then your outtake. I have a box fan blowing cool air into my intake and I'm running 1000 watt venting out the window with a 4 inch exhaust that helps dramatically. If you run heart to the room try closing heater vents and keeping the room the tent is in cooler. Fans will help circulate the air and cool it some. But you will really need to get it under control before you flower.

Thanks chef, I'll definitely try turning off the radiator running to the room the closet is in. I also just worry about that intake idea i had because the temp outside is in the teens and i feel like it would drop the temp to much/ harm the plants. And unfortunately because i have two young kids the house is kept at 70F

if you're worried about the cold you can always just intake air from the room it's in and vent outside, that way you get rid of the hot air but the air coming in isn't too cold either.

that's sorta what I do, except I don't vent directly out the window, just have my venting duct near the window so the hot air goes towards it and my intake is away from the cold winter air

Then check out some of the crafty ways to make a vent hole for your window. The AC kit won't be insulated but I've seen ones made with foam to keep cold air out while you vent and I believe it was on this site. Check the main page.

Ok will do chef, and to clarify i have no issues opening the window. I was wondering if the air would be to cold if i were to vent air from the window into the tent

Venting the exhaust fan out of the room the tent is in will help and keeping the room temp around 70 should be fine my room is 72 and my tent is at 79-81 with outside temps in low 30s I had to worry about humidity because the light was sucking it all out when I was in early veg. Which was wierd because of the outdoor humidity and the rh ion the room were well in the upper 40s. And the tent dropped to 16.Use a hygrometer to monitor that as well the veg cycle requires more humidity then what I had so I found some ways to bring it up.

Yeah probably to cold for that. Box fan should do the job and a oscillating fan inside. Vent out the window you'd be surprised.
