Light is not too close. I have Viparspectra 450 Reflector series and kept it 15" during flowering... Plants closest did best. Probably going to allow them to get down to 14" on my current grow.
If color of stems is only "symptom" I do not think it is cause for serious concern... but is curious.

I’m going to need to do some reading today I’ve got some crazy dark pink/purple stems on the AI’s. I think I’ve read this can be a strain thing or caused by lights being too close. I don’t think the light is too close 18” as mfr recommends. Vipsrspectra PAR 450. The odd thing is the under side of the stem (mainly in fan leaves that I noticed but I got hone about 5 am so didn’t really thoroughly look through). Noticed the light exposed side was purple while the underside was green.

Ah yea I just read the thread my mh is the one that came with my ballast old reflector. I’ll probably replace it next grow.

I made a post about the mh the last 2 weeks. It's not proven but trichomes are like sunblock from uvb rays. The mh produces uvb rays and make sure you take the lens off the light or it won't work. If you have an air cooled with a lense that is.

Also the tent is a couple degrees cooler with the MH.

I know I love that look makes me not want to put the HPS in tonight (just got here). But I will, DAAS mentioned switching back to MH the last 2 weeks I think I’ll look into it.

Interesting so I put the MH in. Hortilux HPS will be here Saturday, checked on them this morning and any droop in the WW2 was gone, it could be the watering, the raising of lights 2 inches, the light change or the defol lol. Everything changed but she looks happier.
