    fabric pots

has any one else noticed that 5 gallon fabric pots do not hold 5 gallons of dirt WTF did they go the route of the lumber co. where a 2x4 is really 1 1/2 x 3 1/2 , the three gallon looks like its close but the five gallon no way . I filled a old 5 gallon hard pot with coco then poured it into the fabric I filled it up and filled a second one about a third that just pisses me off dam dam dam and yes I realize I left out a letter

I planted in a 5gal as well and by week 3 the roots where already growing outside of the pot!!!! I agree theres no way there actualy 5gal. Besides being smaller I do love fabric pots iv noticed a lot more growth than with ceramic or plastic pots.

Ditto. One of mine was looking sickly in a ceramic pot and started looking healthier the day after moving it to fabric (it's still lankier than I'd like, but that can't be helped...time to steal a tomato cage from mom's gardening stuff).

If you want ur plant shorter nodes and busher add more blue light and keep it closer the plant strechs because its not getting enough blue

What brand are you using? If you bought some cheapy brand off of eBay, it wouldn't surprise me if they are undersized.

I calculated my "5" gallon to be 4.22 gallon and my "3" gallon to be 2.89 gallon.

I bought Vivosun and I got a reply to my review on amazon ,they said they were standard size and if I want pots that hold five gallons of dirt I should buy bigger pots they also said they would send those to me free of charge , i thought that was pretty cool of them, I still dont understand if you buy a hard sided pot it holds 5 gallons of dirt . IDK maybe i have been buying 7 gallon pots instead of 5

When I bought my five gal. EcoPot from the local overpriced hydro store I ask if this was the 5 gal, the guy looked at me and said something to the effect of not ture 5 gal.
5 cubic gal? 5 liquid gal? I can remember the exact wordage, but I remember leaving with the impression not a true 5 gallons but equivalent.

Pfsh....man I thought it was me ? I bought a 20 gal fabric pot and no way can i fit 4 5gal buckets in there. Then I bought some 5gal fabric pots...different brand and they're smaller also. I know some members use 3gal for autos, I bought the 5s knowing that they are not true 5gal, hoping they would be good for autos.

I was looking at their bubble bags but then there were a lot of comments stating they were undersized.

I bought these and the hold exactly 5 gallons of coco perlite mix if filled to the very top. I've used them for 3 grows now and they air prune just like they are supposed to.

Pots are measured in trade gallons. A Trade gallon is a term used to denote the sizes of standard plant containers in horticultural industries.
A trade gallon is equal to approximately 0.71 U.S. liquid gallons.
