When to start flush?

Morning Cronk, everyone does it differently, some don't even flush.
You might want to read Nebulas tutorials about it, her information will be way more accurate than anyone else's anyway , that's for sure.

I think it really comes down to 2 main factors, grow media and EC. In DWC the media is flushed when the reservoir is switched to plain water, if the EC was kept low (1.2-1.4)during the grow, 3 days of plain water should be sufficient. Growing in Coco would add 2-3 days to properly flush the media first. Soil is tougher because you can’t water as often, thus flush normally takes 2-3 weeks.

I start to flush at the first sighting of amber trichomes for soil & coco grows.

The question isn't so much the duration of flush or how or harvesting or trichomes, it's more of when do you start so that you end up at your harvest time without starving your plants first.
For instance Dinafem says these plants have a 70 day cycle. I'm on day 61 with big fat, wet buds. Big white pistils and maybe 20% of those have turned brown. My leaves are very dark green since I've been running high ppm
I'd like to do a 10 day flush, so I guess I would start now and hope that the trichomes are where I want them to be before the plants uses all of their stored nutes and begins to die. This decision is based purely on breeder stated cycle and my own hacked together determination based on looking at other journals and threads
I'm interested in what others look for to decide to start a flush. do you look for a certain coloring in the buds? or do you go by stated life-cycle and hope that you end up where you need to be.
I started flush today and I have a pretty good feeling about it but it does seem a bit odd to go by the paper schedule, ie 10 days before breeder date.
I'm having issues with my phone connecting to my computer otherwise I'd post some pics. Thanks for the input

Cronk, I only use the seed banks, to get an idea of how long, they are supposed to take, but that's it, I've seem them be off many times, might be because, they know how, and I dont.
But when I used to flush, and still do ever now and then, I go by the trichs on the buds, not the leaves, And when is see a few amber for the first time, that's when I start the flush.
MJ, can live longer than you think, just feeding off of herself. And I like to see mine turn yellow the last 2-3weeks, that's the way they grow, naturally out in the woods.
Ps- you need to try a plant without flushing, one time, just to see if you can tell a difference.

if you havent grown the strain before you gotta "eyeball" it, like you said trichomes and general development

it was just my thinking that if I waited for trichomes to turn amber to start a flush then 10 days later would be too late, already past prime. Perhaps if they are mostly milky it could take 10 days or so to get my amber/cloudy % that I'm looking for.
I reckon everyone has their own way to do it. lets see what happens. If it takes longer than 10 days to get my trichomes I bet they'll keep living off themselves for a while longer.
