What’s going on here?

This is an Afghan Hawaiian that looks funny. The pistils are turning color but the buds aren’t forming. This is one of two that I started at the same time. The other one is huge and beautiful! Can someone tell me what has happened. I’ve no idea what’s going on.

Someone is going to tell you it is genetics or a male. If you have two growing under the same conditions, you can get two completely different phenotypes.

You have a hermi a plant with both sexes. Could be a unstable cross or ??? lucky the other one is normal you say?

The shape of the bud suggests that it has been pollinated. Pick off one of the swollen calyx, open it up and look for a seed.

So if “buds” don’t develop can I still use the sugar leaves?
