What size pots to use in a 4x4 tent???

Hi there,

I will be using a 4x4 (1.2m x 1.2m) tent looking to do 4 plants at a time...

I will start in a party cup.. but dont know what size to move up tooo..

preferably in litres...
 
I use 3 gal. plastic pots. I started of with 4 plants in a 4x4 tent with a 1000w HPS light. Found out that I was wasting light. It is just as easy to grow 6 plants with the same amount of light. It's a little more of a pain in the ass to water, but it is worth the trouble.
 
It depends on Medium

If your Medium is Coco - it depends on your ability to fertigate frequently.

Looking to grow in soil. Photoperiod for now.



I was thinking;



Party Cup

maybe a 5 litre

end in a 20litre/25lite smart pot



dont really want to transplant more than twice.

Transplanting twice is perfect.
In soil, I think you should go with larger size for 2nd step.

I went party cup 2 gal to 5 gal fabric in my last grown 4x4 with a 600w HPS seemed about perfect to me tent was full. Yielded about a lb.
 
I highly recommend the velcro fabric pots if you’re going to be using them to transplant out of. Way better unless you just cut the pot off and not reusing it.
 
Campesino your the sh$t 🤙🏻 I’m just starting to prepare the flower tent. When I get home I’ll be making the flip on some Rozay clones/tops I picked up from a friend. My tent is the same size but I was planning on a 3 x 3, 9 plant setup with full scrog. I’m not vegging very long at all, but do you think in personal opinion I will be overcrowded? I’ve gone back and forth many times with this decision but I trust your input. 3x3, 9 plant or 2x2 4 plant? I’m looking for maximum yields and can either use 600w or 1000w for my HPS lights so lighting will not be an issue
 
Well it sounds like a SOG more than a ScrOG

If you have 9 plants and they only have one square foot each, you do not need a screen! You won't have any room to spread them out. It's a cool method that can certainly produce great results, but there are some drawbacks - lots of plants to tend! It is the fastest way to maximize yield for your light though - just doesn't maximize yield per plant. If I was running a SOG, with 9 plants in a 3x3, I would probably Veg for less than 20 days from sprout (if seeds).

I don't think that is the best way to maximize yield per harvest, but it is the fastest way to a big harvest.

I think a proper scrog could yield more, but veg times would be longer. I'd probably put 2 plants in a 3x3 to scrog and veg them for about 40 days.

So forgive my miscommunication. I meant laying them in a grid of three plants by three plants making a total of 9. I have a 4x4x7 tent so the canopy can be 16 square feet. I’m stuck with 9 in the tent this run because that’s how many clones I have. But I fully understand where you’re coming from. I’m going to have to play around with the number of plants but my #1 reason for scrog is to maximize canopy and create a light proof canopy that is absorbing 100% of the light output. I like what you’re saying though because even with a 16 square foot canopy space that still leaves less than 2 square feet per plant. You don’t think an addition of a screen would help support those buds?
 
IslandColas You've seen my 4x4 tent with 6 plants?
2 of them got squeezed terribly, but the others are great. My tent was full! Still really is, but three plants are already upside down.

You are still doing a SOG with 9 plants in that space - no net needed - no training needed.
You don't need a screen unless you are going with 1-3 plants in that space.
I would do 4 plants and manifold them - that is exactly what I will do. I have been doing 6 manifolds and it is too many plants.

I flip my manifolds after 40 days in veg.

I realize this plan doesn't use all of your plants - you could do 6 manifolds like I have been doing - you can't do 9
 
I need to ask; Say you have 9 plants in 1 4x4 tent. 3 plants are ready to chop.. do you just chop and hang up side with the others that are still growing?
