What is your biggest question about growing cannabis?

question is.....how do the pros get such dense, crystalline buds when every time I dry and cure my buds are very different looking. dispensary buds are very crystal in structure and have been trimmed so close that there is little hint of sugar leaves, just dense rocks.

is this done with a special finish technique in the last weeks of growth? do they just have a knack for trimming? is their curing technique different that drying and jarring?

I would really like to know

my buds look good and smoke well, they just don't have that pro look. My last grow I discovered cutting all nitrogen in the last 6 weeks or so and using just a bud candy type of nute for bud development. There is enough nitrogen and other stuff to carry the plants after the stretch and this makes them less fluffy, more dense. Still....I need those hard nugs

I agree. I'm an outdoor grower, and the photos I grew last year, as well as the two auto's I harvested a couple of weeks ago, all smell, taste and smoke great........but the nugs are much looser than what you buy at the dispensaries. I've read that lots of sunshine is the best way to get dense nugs, but also that excessive high temps can cause them to be loose. I'm getting mine more shade than I did in previous grows, but it's all just trial and error for me.

I never thought about heat. pros have climate control, yeah? My tent gets in the 90s for sure, right at the limit. I'll see about getting the temp down although my winter grows aren't really any different.

I was surmising that dispos harvest earlier. I check their trichs when I buy an 1/8th, I don't see ambers trichs. The last few weeks seem to make trichs less visible to the naked eye for me, growing in a closet. I know I got a nice jar of kief from my dried buds before jarring. They must use a trimmer then someone goes over the buds by hand. I've seen street weed be as hard as dispo weed but smaller nugs, it makes me wonder. I think they trim them down far because they use everything to sell in one form or another - shake, pre-rolls, extracts, etc. etc. I doubt if you buy an ounce - I haven't - at the dispensary that you'd get any long hard colas - do you?

no, I've never seen large colas in a dispensary. All buds have been fairly small. maybe cured down to that size? perhaps they have some kind of vacuum for removal of oxygen, and that helps the tightness? just a wild guess

I've bought a substantial amount of high grade dispensary weed over the past two years and have often gotten buds that weigh as much as 7-8 grams. Not massive, but much bigger than anything I've been able to grow.

My nugs are getting dense I grow outdoors I get my seeds and nutrients from a u.s seed bank called NukeHeads the seeds are great all my orders I received in 5-8 days I just plucked a bud weighed it wet 2.3 g. And cured for 10-14 days weight was 1.73 g. Good smooth, relaxed not bad oh yeah seed bank easy pay buy purchase a gift card or bitcoin, credit card .

Anybody know what this can be from

I was just given an awesome 8x8 tent that I have in my garage. I my thinking now is to upgrade my growlights, I'm kinda stuck between Mars Hydro and Spider Farmer. I've read Nebs thoughts on both but what does the brain trust have to say? Gonna have to have one hell of a ventilation system I'm guessing. Thanks in advance!

Brand new to this thanks for being so helpful not everyone knows this stuff that is what i thought this forum was for obviously its just so you can make fun of the new people ill find help elsewhere where people do not think they are to good to post a decent answer

scottdanny22 So you are to good to read for yourself and you want me to retype all that was in the link? Really? (not going to happen) Some of us have done our homework and read tons of posts/articles, done years of study, had many failures to prove it, and many great harvests.
You were pointed in the right direction, if you cant take the advice (and do your own homework), why ask? The homework was to read the info in the link above.
My biggest tip is loose the attitude.
I cant help you, good by.

[Edit]I think I will stop responding to these newbs, at least until I see they are not going to piss all over us, this is not the first newb with attitude issues. Give them good info and they cant go read it.[/EDIT]

When a breeder claims the strain is a 9 week strain.. Do you count 9 weeks from 12/12? Or do you need to factor in some transition time? A week or 2? Making it actually 10 or 11 weeks from 12/12? Is this making any sense? Lol...

Another question..
When is the best time to harvest to enjoy the highest THC levels exactly?? Should I wait till I see a huge abundance of cloudy/milky? Or do you want till you see a touch of amber trichomes?? And are those amber trichomes only on the tops of colas? Or amber throughout the entire plant? This always confuses me and my current harvest (ETHOS Cookies RBx1 and Mandarin Cookies V2 both from ETHOS) isnt really doing it for me.. Extremely complex terps and it doesnt really help my nausea, not give much of any buzz.. Both were 9 week strains and I took them both 10 weeks from 12/12 flip..

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks growmies...

Myself, when the "breeder" claims 9 weeks I add 2-3+ weeks to that, but I like amber!
Clear trics = racy paranoid high
Milky trics = high THC
Amber trics = couch lock

I take some milky and some with 30+% Amber.
