OK fellow growers. I'm gonna leave my ego at the door and share with you what happens if you ignore the signs of dried spit on you leaves. Before I realized what it was, it was too late. Thrips, then Fungus gnats
In the second week of flower. I don't want to spray them anymore crap on my plants because they are now in their 6th week of flower. The bugs are pretty much gone, but the damage is done. Just passing on a lesson on vigilance.

I really don't know. I started with brand new Roots organics soil, cleaned pots. Everything looked fine. until the 2nd week in flower. Maybe the dog brought them in. The saving grace is the this grow is just some bag seeds my son in law gave me. I was waiting for the right time to plant my Black Jack seeds. So I'm really not too bummed about it. Still, time is money.
 
King, to my very unprofessional eye and just looking at pictures, I can't see anything wrong with your buds.

But, I'm so sorry you had a bad growing experience, bag seed or not.
 
You are too kind dear lady. But that is a failure in my book. The 2 short once are stunted, the buds should be twice the size by now. I'm just watering now because I think, but I don't know for sure. I give them about 2 more weeks and see if they will be ready to wack. I don't know anything about them.
 
Thanks for sharing ! This kind of thing happens to every grower, most just don't share :) I have to say that I think you're being hard on yourself because your plants actually look really good to me and you have a good size on those buds for just 6 weeks of flowering!

As far as ways to get rid of any bugs that might be left, or if they come back, "spinosad" products are effective against thrips, and is safe to use on your plants in the flowering stage up until the day before harvest. It works best with a mister and make sure to get all the leaves especially the underside of the leaves, but the cool thing is it won't affect the taste of your buds. It has a sort of mild earthy smell that goes away quickly, and it's very safe for people, animals, pets, etc :)
 
Thanks for your support Nebula. I have all the products that you mentioned, and used them vigorously to get rid of them. Also Dyatomacious earth.
 
Your post does help if you have a bug problem King thanks! So we should also sum up the reasons people get bugs ...I wouldn't kill all the bugs in my basement the spiders are our friends I swear they clean up bugs you don't want. I'm so fearful with these bug killers killing the good bugs (I know thrips are bad)

If you had them as bad as I did, you have to take drastic action. I might add. I have a room in the basement just for growing and I can close it off and fumigate it easily without interfering with the rest of the house. Thanks for your kind words Karlee. I may have to rethink my definition of shitty.

i just had a conversation with my other half (GWE first half - hydro guy other half (this afternoonbut ) now there are all of you too) anyway
"how did I get this"...I have learned and am reminded ( having gotten an inch worm in my tent in pretty pristine environment right Royal?)and bud rot after tending my friends bud rot (spores travel) . To change clothes after I work my property, after I work my yard maintenance properties, AND after I go to hydro store as my guy does before he goes to work his plants after work. I do not have any other plants in my grow space. Tallandis in living space. Point is..bugs travel like seeds I think: by wind, by animals, by hooks and burs. How um..Ummm anal can one be?
so: don't beat yourself, your plants I agree with the pros don't look that bad!!!

It is a learning experience. I'm just blown away that you guys think those plants are OK. I love you guys.:cool:
