Water and Ph levels

So as far as I know water Ph should be in the range of 6.0 - 7.0 with 6.5 being the "middle". My tap water measures at 7.4 which is too high but great for starting my seedlings, after that I reduce the Ph to 6.4 which is equivalent to drinking water bought at the store. I have also read to vary your Ph, not to target the same Ph every time you water, in other words fluctuate. Has anybody done this and what have been your results? I stick to 6.4 because for me, it is easier to measure the Ph down with my syringe because it is marked from 0.0 to as high as 2.5ml and it takes 1.5ml to reduce one gallon of water to 6.4. My watering has been consistent and have had really no issues (other that my slight leaf problem mentioned earlier). Just something to contemplate for my next grow...;) For those of you that use molasses, what do you Ph your water to??? I reduce to 6.0 when I mix my molasses... any other possible suggestions???

I grow in soil and I pretty much always water at 6.4-6.6 from seed splashdown to harvest. A few drops more or less of ph down off of 6.5 typically and usually once per grow that I forget to ph and give them straight 7.5-7.8 from the tap. I still try to keep it around 6.4-6.6 with molasses which works out great as 3 tsp pulls my tap water right down into that range.

For soil my tap water is an 8 on the shitter scale. After putting everything in I ph down to between 5.5 and 6.2, I have I'd figured out to where I don't need to check ph other than the tap water evey few weeks. Then always above 6 with molasses and have always liked a higher ph ph during the last month or so after flushing my dirt to the point the runoff is above 6 I water above 6 below 7 to the end. Getting my water from tap to feed is usually 4 to 5 ml of phdown after nutes. Below 5 and above 7.5 usually gives me problems.
