Using Coco Coir

I'm a first time grower. I've got a 2 plant test going on now and waiting on my equipment to arrive. I am just about settled on using Coco Coir as my growing medium but I keep finding different ways to prepare it. Some say add soil, some say add perlite etc etc. If you are or have used it could you give me your insight. Thanks in advance.
 
This is the best part about growing. Choosing from the various mediums, lighting, nutrients, strains....

I'm currently running a kindsoil setup. It's a concentrated super soil placed at the bottom of a fabric pot, the rest is filled with any porous amended medium, in my case coco loco. I found out about it here on GWE and it sounded like a great fit for what I wanted to run.

Another one I want to try is Coco amended with earthworm castings. Later kelp, guano, fishmeal, and some other funky stuff gets added to the mix. All in an effort to maximize terpene and flavonoid production. Similar to a high brix concept.

I think organic growing is the cleanest, tastiest way to produce your meds. To each their own!

Just my two cents....keep your medium as neutral as possible...that way you know what it's getting and when and how much. So many people on here using super soil kind soil organic soil amended soil...then they get on here and they all ask for help because they have no ideal what their plant is getting and in what dosses. Just makes no sense to me. You should be in control of every aspect of your grow as much as possible. With those kind of soils you are at their mercy.

I use coco loco and emerald harvest nutes. (Which was made for weed)

To each their own....for sure!!
 
I'll play tag with these great folk..
i use Platinum Cyco Coco Coir..3 parts coco/ 1part perlite approx
black smart pots 5 gal
GH Flora Trio nutrients per GWE instructions. CaliMag, Terpinator ..in flower use I use Koolbloom
been doing this same process basically for 2.5 years.
i am interested in the above mentor's processes...
what ever you do..enjoy it.
