No, some trichomes come out purple, or even pink! Some Sativa and Haze plants have trichomes that turn white, but never really progress to amber.
Most plant's trichomes do turn amber though, and trichomes turning a different color is pretty rare.
It's a lot more common to see the pistils or buds themselves turn purple than the trichomes.

I would think so, since they are one of the most important parts of the bud. Some strains just take longer than others to turn from clear to amber. Also, ;most don't wait for all the trichomes to turn amber. Mostly milky is the peak time.

All the ones I have grown do but the trichome color and percentages don't always progress at the same rate as the change in color of the pistils. From my experience genetics is as important or maybe more so.
One of the strains I've grown for high CBD content, even when the trichomes are 25% amber and 75% opaque, has a lot less THC than a strain with much lower CBD. The buds look fantastic but they don't really get you high. So I go with a combination of pistil color, trichome color, bud size and density and calyx development. First time you grow a specific strain its a learning experience.
