Top feed RQS Royal Gorilla (x2) Critical

Here we go! I took 5 Royal Gorilla and 4 Critical cuttings 12 days ago. I used a home made cloning system that sprays water at the cuttings. I’ve picked my favourite 2 Gorillas and the best Critical and put them in my home made top feed 30L system! This is my first time using hydroponics so I could be in for a bumpy ride and will need all you hydro guys to chime in! I’m using Dutch Nutrient Formula nutrients line and tap water that sits out for a few days.

Looking good right out of the gate. Give’m a week to get settled in and they’ll start taking off!! Are you planning to run a sterile reservoir or are you adding beneficials such as hydroguard? I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by how easy hydro can be.

I’m not sure, I just mixed nutrients as per bottle and that’s all. Should I use Hydroguard?

Hydroguard and products like it are beneficial bacteria that some growers add to colonize their root systems and reservoirs to defend against harmful bacteria that cause root rot. The other method is to maintain a sterile reservoir by eliminating all bacterial growth. Different environments give different results with both methods. I’ve had success adding hydroguard with reservoir temps at 70-75 degrees. If you have trouble keeping your water temps below 70, you may want to look into something like hydroguard.

Your pH looks good but keep a close eye on them for nutrient burn. 860 is on the higher side, I’ve found fresh clones like it around 350-400 while they get their feet wet.

Ok obi I’ll watch over the next few days and if I see any issues I will do a res change. Thank you. I plan to keep water temp below 70 and will be doing complete changes every 7 days

Obi-Wan Going to start using this as recommended by the shop. They have pics of 5gal dwc pails packed solid with roots, pump lost within lol. They say is fantastic stuff. know of it?

I’ve not come across that product but if it keeps your roots healthy and growing it’s a worthwhile investment.

Seeing some new growth, the critical has a nice root hanging out the bottom already. It’s been 7 days since I put them in. Res change today ph5.8 (ec700) ppm 860 temp of water I put in was 13°c hope that doesn’t shock them.
