This is a very timely subject for me as I've had this occur in just the past couple of weeks. Nebula said the main reason this occurs is because of lights and heat but she also said this is unlikely to happen with CFLs. I use CFLs. The plant that this is happening to is an unknown strain. It's been in the flower room for 13 weeks and I thought it was a week or two from harvest. This is happen to all the colas. Should I ignore the new growth and harvest according to the trichomes on the rest of the bud which are just starting to cloud over?
 
Could you post a picture of the plant in the setup, and also a picture of the buds? That'll help us see whether it seems normal, or if it looks like there's a problem. Is it hot in there? It might just be the strain if it's happening evenly to all of the buds, and not only the buds closest to the light :)

The grow room never goes above 81 degrees - picture to follow. My camera will not focus on close ups but the outline will give you an idea of the shape, which if it continues will become a foxtail. FYI: I'm fairy new to this and just about everything I do know is thanks to GWE. I harvested a plant 3 days ago that went in the grow room at the same time but may or may not be of the same strain (misc. seeds given to me by the same person). No problems with these buds putting out new pistols.
 
You look like you've got some nice, fat buds in there, that's great! The buds themselves do appear like they're being stressed by something, whether it's light, heat or a nutrient deficiency. When you put your hands where the buds are and leave them for 30 seconds, does it feel too hot for your hand? If it's too hot for you it's too hot for them. Also, have you been checking the pH of the water going in?

I agree in this case you probably want to watch the old growth and not the new when deciding when to harvest. It might help the plant to stop putting out new white pistils if you move the lights up a few more inches away (or possibly turn off one or two), just to make sure it's not light/heat from the CFLs that are doing it.

Overall it looks like it's going to be a great harvest soon, with more plants already on the way!
