Whats going on everyone? So as some of you know, I'm getting ready for my first outdoor grow come spring. I recently read on here that direct sunlight may be stressful for young plants and that I may need to keep the plants partially shaded. My primary grow spot wont have much access to shade, so should I be worried?
 
If you can buy 2 150 watt cfls you can start your plants a month early inside and transplant them in spring to there final spot. Plants will be bigger and you want gave to worry about the sun frying them that being said a good friend of mine starts his outside in pots and I've never seen him shade them but thts in California
 
The mid day sun will be hardest from them to take. If you can get them some weak sun like a overcast day. If you can give them a mix of sunlight and artifical light they be good.
 
Start them outside they will be fine...you growing in a pot or ground...if ground all good..if pot starting inside just put in light shade till you put in final spot...more light day by day for a week...all good
 
Lol, my wife just told me to start them inside a month early and I totally just brushed her of like she didnt know what she was talking about....So I can just get a couple of small lamps and start them inside until they get acclimated to that type of heat stress?
 
Does it make a huge difference if I start them in a tent? Would a couple of small lamps positioned not too far from the solo cups work?
 
So what if I have them in shade for the majority of the day and then slowly move them to direct sunlight?
 
Lol dnt you hate when tht happns and yes I use 3 or 4 150 watt cfls I start with one and keep adding as the plants grow I do about 6 to 8 plants at a time and it works great I use cfls for 3 or 4 weeks then switch them to the flowering room
 
Yea but like jibblerjoe says down under u might wana slowly introduce them to sun for probly at least a week ive seen plants go from inside and get fried in the direct sun sry forgot to mention tht before
 
So you figure a couple hours here and there? I have one of those patio umbrellas as well. Think I could get away with full extending that [umbrella] and letting the plants stay shaded for the most part of the day?
 
I think tht would be good for mid day when Suns brightest but wht I would do personally is take the plant out early in the morning and move it to umbrella before noon and just give it a lil more direct sun each day and keep a close eye on it for at least a week
 
I was thinking something similar, but I'm gone a good portion of the day, and sometimes dont get home until after dark. Maybe I can keep them under the umbrella for the most part and then have my wife move them when she gets home around 5. That way they get a little more direct sunlight.
 
Unfortunately I figured schedule would be an issue but depending on whare u live that should work you just need to transition them so there used to sun then your good
