Thing sure have changed

Buffalo, my main saying about life is 'gotta have hope'. Without hope there's nothing left, and we can't afford to move to a place where cannabis is already legal, so I too play spy vs spy. Just try to slide by below the radar, being a middle-aged woman who keeps to herself. We recently moved to a new place, and as far as anyone who meets us knows, we just moved from the city to get away from the noise and commotion to live a quieter life. And I'm anti-social so that helps a lot!

bluecanoe.....I live in the suburbs , houses 2-3 hundred ft apart, big lots, lots of open land, so i grow in the yard, in 3 gal. pots, planted 4 short autos 2 1/2 weeks ago. Only 3 can up. Rained for the last 8 days, highs around 60, lows in 50,s. Predicting next 7 days sunny and high 70,s and 80,s. They are 2 in. tall and should triple in a weeks time. Short stuff #1 largest, critical next and delish dark purple at 1 1/2 in. Last year I had 2 short stuff #1, grow to be 2 1/2 ft. yield 108 gr. wet - 38 gr. dry. cured for 30 days. sweet mellow and smooth.. Have'not grown my own in 30 yrs. Did lots of research here and other sites. Really lucked out.. How about you?

Yes. Thank you for your service indeed. Heading into 69 ( going on 12) and we paid 10$ for a "lid" ..an ounce of whatever was in the bag. I loved sifting seeds in the shoebox lid.

Tika your right 10 bucks an oz if the man had any, if not you had to go to some slim shady neighborhood an pay 5 bucks a matchbox. You must be down south it was cheaper down here than it was up north. We are closer to the Gulf and to Mexico.

At that time ..Brentwood , CA. OJ territory pre him quite a bit.
50 bucks rental for a guest house north of Sunset Blvd Barrington Ave.
thanks for the laughs...
what I have found with this forum ( not involved with any others) is that:

we are of history..great Growers or not..we are of history and share cannabis as a mean. There are some VERY VERY remarkable people here
i mean really extraordinary individuals with remarkable lives , gifts, talents, and professions. ..not necessarily age defined

I have to admit, my very first plant was just one bud! That's right one measly bud, at that time it was amazing and I felt lucky to have it! Today I get upset when my two plants don't yield over a pound..so thanks to this post bringing me back to reality of how weed used to be, which I called a sick bag of sticks and stones!

We are in the country, but not that far away from neighbors, but more than what I had in the city for sure. The houses there were so close you could hear someone fart inside with the windows and doors closed! But our one neighbor down here is nosy, and people have a boundary issue so I would never dream of growing outdoors, unless I hit the lottery and am able to buy acres and acres, in that case I intend to grow hemp for income and cannabis for me.
Before we moved we always had someone to get something from, here we have no connections who we trust and don't charge an arm and a leg for 3 buds of so-so shit, I decided to try my hand at growing out of necessity. I've been an avid flower and veggie gardener for years so I knew I could do it.
I thought we only had one cop, but found out different when the house next door got busted for meth, there were 15 cop cars in my yard, on the street and next door and pickup trucks were hauling more cops in in the back of the trucks! Every gov't agency you can think of.
Now I am very, very careful, so you see why I don't grow outdoors! And it's already hot here, 90's during the day and upper 70's at night, and we have plenty of humidity!! Come August and September it'll be over 100 for weeks at a time and humidity so bad it will feel like a wet blanket thrown over you when you walk out of the house. But it will rain most every afternoon.
I just harvested my first grow in over 30 years yesterday, it wasn't much. I call it a bonsai plant. An autoflower Northern Lights. It only got 10 inches tall, and the sister plant is almost half again as tall but not flowering, (with the same exact soil, light, pots, water, fertilizer, airflow, everything) I have been told on here that it could be a photo instead of auto so I switched it to 12/12 yesterday, and am going to wait 2 weeks and see if anything happens. I took clones off that plant and am worried that the clones won't produce either, but if they are photos and I know it in advance, then I can adjust the lights accordingly.
I've learned a lot on here, and hope my next grow is more successful than this last one. I wish I had all the seeds I threw away, but hindsight is 20/20 huh? I'll just get some more and start again if this last plant and the clones are duds. I want to keep a perpetual grow so I never run out of medicine. It helps me in so many different ways. You're lucky you can grow outside, sounds like you have the perfect climate. Good luck to you!

I love the fact that we can talk shop here. I'm sure we are all on some list somewhere lol but to be able to talk growing with other knowledgeable growers what a treat . At 59 its been my habit to just smile and move on never letting on that I know anything about pot, self preservation mode but here we are .To me that is a fantastic change.

Oldjarhead, we are the same age! Lately I have been making it a point to speak to my doctors and therapists about the use of CBD ointments and oils because of the different physical and emotional things I have and the fact that they indeed help me. How else are we going to get our legislators to make the change for national legalization if we don't make ti a point to speak out about this plant as better medicine than pharmaceuticals (most of which I am allergic to anyway). I live in a state that is very anti-legalization. For a few months the two biggest cities had decriminalized cannabis, but our governor stepped in and rescinded that, so back to square one.
I have started referring to marijuana only as cannabis, not pot, weed, grass, dope, any of the slang words, just cannabis. But unless someone asks or the subject comes up, I keep my head down and am just Jane Doe, law abiding citizen. And actually, I don't feel that I am breaking the law of the land, this is a plant, just as if I want to go out in my yard and pick dandelion leaves and eat them in a salad....but always in the back of my mind is the fact that I can lose everything if I'm caught. And that sucks rocks.
I think that we all need to be more vocal and push our legislators to legalize and tax cannabis. I keep telling myself I'm too old for this shit, we've come too far in life to be burdened by this bullshit, and why is it totally legal to run to the liquor store and buy as much booze as we can drink, then to the cig store and buy as many cigs as we can afford, go to our doctors and get a prescription for opiates or other addictive drugs and all the while knowing that these things are far more dangerous to our health and cause far more deaths by overdose or over-use, while cannabis has never killed anyone.

Everyone................. Time mag. just put out a mag with a large leaf on it . If you can read it, it will make you mad as hell and cry at the same time. Man did we get fucked over by our wonderful USA

I'll try to find it, and read the article. We've got to get a rental car, ours was totalled out today, so we are without transportation so I hope I can get a copy before the next edition comes out.

Right now I,m growing 3 autos outdoors. Cold and rainy the first 2 weeks. Short stuff #1 & critical + didn't seem to mind Delis dark purple is smaller ( later research stated it grows small ). Last days warm and sunny, getting 7-8 hrs direct sun and are now gaining 1/2-1 inch a day with 4 th set of leaves showing. Short stuff may be showing preflower, not sure. Last year only had 2 short stuff and got 40 grams dry. This year made my own super soil ( recipe from G>W>E>). Going all organic. In about 7 wks. I should know........

Tomorrow I am sending off an order for some seeds from Seed Supreme Seedbank. I harvested the smallest plant that had flowered, only got 1/4 oz off of it, very disappointed and sent the company a letter stating as much. I was expecting so much more. The sister plant still hasn't done anything since I changed the lights to 12/12. I'm hoping the clones are not duds like the mother plant. So I wait for my next grow. I intend to plant the clones once they root to see if I get results, if not, then seeds will be on their way and I can start over. I do have to say that the little bit I got off my plant is good....I slept like a baby last night, for the first time in can't tell you how long. Of course it was a harsh day, dealing with the insurance company, trying to get a rental car and finding someone to take us 40 miles to the car rental place (the major disadvantage of living in the boondocks). Calling attorneys, making appointments with the chiropractor for hubs to see Monday. I worked the phone from 8am til about 9 pm. I was exhausted, so along with that and the smoke I slept and that's a wonderful feeling for someone who usually lays in bed until dawn waiting to fall asleep.
For my next grow I intend to make my own soil, I have my nutes, and have to find some more lights so I'll be ready when the seeds pop. This next grow WILL be better than the last, because I know so much more! Lots of luck with your new grow.

Tika Saw your grow journals Good lord that is one SERIOUS set-up. I just tinker out back in the sun, and let nature do her thing. Envious yes, jellous no

Bluecanoe.....From what I have read in more than one place, the most important part of the plant are the roots,. Bad roots, bad plant, bad buds.. I am trying to go all organic this year. Found the best organic soil ( Wal-mart ) worm castings , Perilite , sweet lime ( dolomite ) and Bio-tone ( micro criters to help feed the roots nutes ) water and as much sunshine as mother nature will provide. Figure the plants were on they own since the first one sprouted eons ago, so if i give them my best , they will give me thiers. We are not in charge , they are............Good luck and keep us posted
