I want to take some stretch out of 2 of my girls, I was thinking of slicing 1.5" out and taping her together again. Good or bad idea?

All my earlier pictures posted of them received suggestions of burying them deeper to reduce the height but I think that would just take away from root expansion.

The bottom leaves will eventually be removed due to magnesium deficiency, but i'm not sure about how much stress I can cause at one time.

OMG Weed that stresses me out thinking of it , just think what your plants think they shudder when you look at them LOL

that stretch will be gone in a week it's filling out now.

Completely cutting out a piece of main stem and trying to graft back together.......not even Greenie would do that.........I think, er, not sure, maybe.

Remind me again what size pot or bucket she's in now? And like W and S said above, top her and start some LST on her. Keep the fan blowing on her, will thicken up stem. She'll be fine.

That idea would be a good experiment though.

oh I've grafted...

THE MAIN STEM?????? Thinking more about this, has come up a few times here on forum, about an accident during supercropping, and taping back together. It apparently works. but the main stem, that would be like having your head cut off and surgeons reattaching it. I do realize that a plant is not quite as complex as the human body...........maybe it would work. Sure would be interesting to find out.

I did see above that your opinion is it would die. LOL

They are in 3g smartpots now, I will go 5g when they are ready. Light is 11k-12k Lumens.

How tall do they need to be before topping?

Not very tall at all. I top at the 3rd node while the 4th is just sprouting out.

Wow thats short, I thought topping this early would stunt them. Guys at Brew and Grow suggested 6"-8" before topping.

I am getting over a mag deficiency and will lose bottom leaves, my girls are 3"-5" now, I will wait until I have a good set of lower leaves.

Topping will slow growth regardless.

Most people like the plant to be bigger before topping, I'm still experimenting but I prefer to top early and get the plant going the way you want it sooner than later. Definitely a work in progress...
