Why does my sprout (10 days old) have 2 cotyledons and only one fan leaf? Normally you will get 2 cotyledons and 2 small fan leaves, but this literally has only one fan leaf so far. Anyone seen this before?

At such a young age, I wouldn't worry. At one time, I had 21 sprouts, and by two weeks all in different stages of advancement. I think the next set of leaves will probably have the normal pair, although some grow in sets of three. They all seems to catch up and be fairly uniform in size by 3 weeks old.

Yes...it's retarded....you will more than likely have a under par plant....I just threw away one as well...first set of fan leaves were distorted and had no ridges...trashed it!

No time for plants that wont reach their full potential

I have grown out to many seedlings that I knew were under par hoping they would get better.they never compared to the non retarded ones

Funny you mention that, for the first 2 days, it was in a rooter in a bowl right next to my wifi router. Now, I know the power output of wifi is VERY small (1/100,000 of a microwave) but still makes you wonder if the tiny bit of radiation from the wife may have altered genetics somehow. We shall see in a few weeks...

Sorry..that's just how I was told to look at it....
Plants can be retarded....just like animals

I will be more political I guess in the future...

So it looks like I'm the only one who thinks he should keep it going, try it just like the others, and in a few weeks He won't eve know which one it its.

Oh yes he will...those plants are the ones that will be smaller won't throw budz like the others...it will grow... Yes but it will be inferior to the others

It depends on the situation... I always pop 3 fem seeds for every 2 keepers now due to issues I've experienced in the past. I'm afforded this luxury because I have 30 seeds I still need to grow. It sucks culling the ones that aren't as healthy but that's life.

The rest of the leaves could grow in fine. Only one way to find out.

Always over germinate and take the healthiest. I am doing a half a batch of train wreck right now. Had 2 that came up like that kinda gimpy lookin. They grew out of it by 3rd or 4th node

So it seems, as with most everything pot related, yet another controversial subject. Having many seeds to spare is a luxury some don't have, but I do see your point Green.

I'd wait a few days and see how it grows before you decide one way or the other :) I've seen this happen before, sometime they start growing right away and sometimes they get stunted :)
