Splitting The Stem 7-10 Days Before Harvest

Nothin wrong with experiments, but what I've found, if people do something to their OWN plants of course it's gonna work magnificently, they are not going to report something that didnt work ,it's hard to go by just pictures ,pictures are easily duped .Especially if you don't have a way to document each days growth.So every one has to try the new trick an of course it's gonna work great for 99 out of a 100, no one likes to admit failure. If their were any new tricks that positively worked Nebula would have them already on GWE. I might be wrong ,but I think all the new tricks have already been tried by many over the years, good luck with your experiments.
 
I’ve done a stalk split more than a few times, worked well but I spit earlier than what I’ve been hearing at least 3 weeks befor harvest.
Ive moved up to splitting the main braches off the stalk close to the stalk an inch or two after the the branches come off the stalk just b carful I have used tooth picks and wooden skewers with improved results! Just 1 mans opcervation. Lol
 
Never tried any of the old outside tricks . Still new to their indo. I was quite successful outside for most of my current adult life. Until the great law of my state moved me inside. We always split stalks and drove nails and such mostly as a way of finishing quicker. But we always thought we were just speeding up what was going to happen eventualy. I've watched my grandpaw take a tobacco knife and cut a 12 footer half down and take his foot and break it over. And harvest them stickiest dank there next week.
 
Every time I hear about this topic it makes me wonder why not just use a power dtill to make a small hole

Exactly the question I was going to ask. If this technique does work, all you've done is force the plant to produce a load of immature trichs, doesn't sound very beneficial
 
Have used this on several plants and to be honest there was no noticible difference in trich production between splitting and not so I`ve ceased. Not saying there isn`t anything in this but I just didn`t get the results.
 
Jr83 Hi mate...I`ve tried it 4 days, a week and then 2 weeks and really didn`t notice any difference. I think that if it does increase trich production then they will be immature trichs still when harvested but that can still give an energetic buzz which may go well with cloudier trich effects-I don`t know. Still worth trying, it might be a strain thing as currently I`m only growing Ice Breaker, Honeysuckle, Incredible Bulk, Delhi Friend and Critical Kush strains and it hasn`t worked on these...so, the jury`s out at the moment. Will have a look at your grow and thanks for the invite :)
 
I accidentally split my trainwreck auto at the top trying to lst too hard. That happened at day 33ish from seed, 3 or 4 days ago, and it's doing really well right now. There's a pic in my current grow journal in my signature of what I did to it by mistake, but it may have been a good thing lol

Yeah, I don't care what they say about splitting is just new trichs, im trying to get as many trichs as possible!! I want them icy buds!!!! New or old!!! I've seen it done ,but they used zip ties about a couple inches apart at the base. Split the stalk, and stuck 3 toothpicks through the stalk, broke off the toothpicks, and wrapped the stalk in saran wrap!! Looked good to me!! And they used a bunch of other techniques with it, ice water flush, lights off for 72 hrs, dry back,etc. And their buds were iced out!🧊 I got 2 fastbudz going in about 3 more weeks, im trying my first stem split! And all the other techniques too!!! Ill get back to as what happened and let yall know!! I'll send some pictures!!!
 
Good question! Im fixing to do my first stem split! Think I'm gonna try a week before harvest! Sounds reasonable!!
