Smallest container?

What is the smallest container that anyone has used? I am growing in a 3 gallon fabric bucket and would like to go to a flatter shallow container.

I wouldn’t. Unless you don’t mind smaller yields. Roots like the stretch deep, not wide.

From what I understand cannabis roots don’t go really deep. Well they go deep but search wide that’s why you see those 100-200 gallon pots that are really wide but not super tall like other cylindrical pots. Just my 2 cents. I’m just learning.

Bigger the root ball the bigger the buds , I use 3 gallon pots but I feed them 4 times a day ,if your growing in soil the smallest I would use it a 7 gallon ,(They hold 5 gallons) ,if your growing photos the minumum I would use is 5 gallon same with autos ,if your growing in dirt you can get away with a 3 gallon if you can water/feed them many times a day

I have experimented using 2gal. for auto indoors grew 4 autos at a time in a 3x3 did OK small yields maybe 2oz per plant. I would not use anything like that again for time and money elec. costs I go 5gal fabric for autos. Like OJ said 10gal fab is actually 7gal. soil mix. no smaller than that for photos. if you want a good yield. But it's up to you and how much work you want to do. Depends on strain and environment. I've seen some real experimental grows in very small containers but it was well controlled environment. Good luck have fun.

Super tall would raise the center of gravity. Making the plant top heavy and easily tipped over. It’s not the roots like to spread wide, they like to stretch deep. But what good are deep roots if a plant can not stand on its own.

When I dig up a plant in my 20 gallon smart pots, the roots are within 3" of the bottom and sides of the pot.

It would really depend on your strain type and lights- as keeping things in balance is important.

I grow LED's/CoB combination.
No smaller than 3 gallons if growing in coco or 5 gallons if growing in soil- mostly for auto's, but applies well for photo's too.
